Apparently it was Toews' idea for the entire team to leave the bench when Kane got his 1,000th point. He went so far as to clear it with league officials in advance.

Initially thought Lehner would opt to remain with the Hawks. Not nearly so certain here lately. Can't zero in on the shift away, but I honestly do not see him resigning in Chicago. Hope I'm wrong.

This board is really stunned. A few weeks ago when deHaan, Saad, and Strome went down we were sure it was “tank” city. Now it is hard to tell if talk of PLAYOFF position is optimism or sarcasm.

A win against Q on Tuesday would be kind of interesting.

Now what does Bowman do? Buy, sell, hold?
I say pretty much stand pat unless someone blows him a way with an offer. The exception might be trading Gus. But we are so thin at D (and Gilbert is not an answer). Maybe he moves Gus for a 3rd rounder and picks up a rental Dman for a 4th.

Both Crawford and Lehner will be gone. Next season it will be Timur Bilyalov and Thomas Greiss.

the goalie situation is a very tough decision for stanbow...

1. allegiance and loyalty to craw; yes its a business but not just a business
2. can he find a fit $$/terms that fit that satisfies team/cap and lehner...

I can see lehner taking 3 years or less as well as I can't see stanbow offering more than 5 years....so its most like 4 years in the 6 mil per plus incentives and he will probably want a limited NMC

The defense is much better. I wonder how good they would be if they had a real coach with a NHL defensive system.

Here's to this same situation occurs with Chicago as the prospects begin filtering in. Even a fourth line player who offers something more than speed. Believe it or not, Fortin is learning how to use his speed and is not bereft of skill. He simply could not execute if he was going at top speed. He could be an effective player.

And if you read AEL_FOX comment on Soderlund then you know about what he brings (note: vandemeer blogger). I know Steve Rain or someone long ago said " a prospect is just a prospect until he is not.' The good news is that the current crop of prospects is rated and reviewed much better than any previous "prospectus."

3 things:

1) which system have they bought into?

2) 24 scouts at the game, there better be more information coming on this.

3) no one get their hopes up to much, we have one of the easier schedules this half of the season.
