I think the minimum the team would agree to is 4 years, buying out 2 UFA years. I think this probably ends up as a 5 year deal. - Lunaion
It doesn't seem like JB likes paying anybody max dollars unless it's obvious (Eichel, Dahlin down the road) or he absolutely has to (Skinner).
Let's say it is 5 years. At what cost per year? $7M? More? |

Not on D though. They need forward help. When Eric Cornel is on your 1st line, you got problems. - mhp
True, but Bogo would free up a permanent spot for pilut |

It's close, Wayne at 0.601 GPG, while Ovi is at 0.611; exactly 1 percentage point higher.
Wayne played until age 38 and saw his production fall off a cliff (for him, lol) the last 3 years, and had a short season his 4th last (only played 18 games).
Ovi needs 203 more goals to pass him for total goals scored. He has 34 so far this season, pacing for 57 (13 more), which would leave him short by 190.
He then would need a 48 goal per season pace for 4 more years, that takes him to age 38 also to pass him...but can he keep that pace that long, considering injuries, slowing down. He has a very long track record of missing only 2 -3 games a year, or playing the full 82....one could say the odds will catch up to him.
Like I said, will be close depending on how long he plays for...if he plays long enough into his early 40's and stays close to that pace for 4 or 5 years more, he could blow by him by say 100+/- - IonSabres
I don’t think OV will pass him
That’s too high a pace to expect him to keep up
Especially with how physical he plays
BUT
Even if OV doesn’t pass The Great One
There’s still a very good argument to be made that he’s the best goal scorer ever
Especially as he moves closer to Gretzky |

The best comparable is Teravainen, at 5.4m. Larkin is 6.1, but bought out fewer UFA years. Kyle Conner is probably on the high end at 7.1m, but he's probably the better player.
Someone said 5x6.75m recently, and that's a pretty good ballpark. Plenty of ammo for JB to negotiate under 7m. There aren't many RFA's to really help push that up this year. Maybe Domi.
Could JB cave and go 7.5m? For sure. |

skinner not on first team pp
misuse of vesey
riding ullmark too much
dahlin lack of ice time
young d group, playing 7 instead of 6 for lack of continuity - homiedclown
Misuse of Vesey? 😂😂😂
Come on. He just hasn’t done much to justify giving him more opportunity
Not when Olofsson & Skinner are healthy anyways
Where do u want him in the lineup when we are healthy?
Riding Ullmark too much?
No options. Every time Hutton plays now we lose
Dahlin stunk earlier in the year. He absolutely should NOT have gotten more icetime.
I think Skinner not being on line1 is a better argument than him not being on PP1
For some reason, he’s just not great in that situation. Kinda weird?
Idk about the lack of continuity among the defense?
We’ve defended pretty well this season
Hutton has been pretty awful though
I think we are playing 7 defensemen Bc they wanna try & move Bogo
Your source have anything to say on that? |

vesey is consistently a 17 goal scorer
I love how people think all 4th liners score 17 goals a year
skinner is our best goal scorer, period
I love how people think it's ok he is not on our 1st team pp
dahlin may have struggled early, no excuse to play him 14
15
16 or 17 minutes a night
he is the best d prospect in the nhl, needs to play more
regarding hutton, yeah he might be hurt, or in a funk
carry 3 goalies
literally throwing points away by the way this roster is utilized
regarding bogo, he could be moved in a heartbeat for a 7th if we retained half the salary
the face bogo and e rod is on the roster still, is botts trying to squeeze out more then he can get for them |

Ovi will drop to a 30
Then 20 goals a year guy like all old guys do. No way in hell he catches Gretzky. Game keeps getting faster and faster. He will get left in the dust once he crosses over 35 |

Yeah I was saying 6.5 to 6.75, it's really weird how he heats up around the all-star break every year. Wish he would do that all year long, be a better gauge of him. Like the player, still think there's some ? to how good he really is. |

Vesey is also currently a top 4 offensive skill player on our team with Olo and Skinner out. If he played in a top 9 role all year with average minutes and PP time he would get 15-20 goals easy |

134 goals in last 212 games
you can make a case he is in the middle of his second best stretch of hockey
if he plays 5 more years with backstrom, say he gets 20 more this season
that leaves 183 goals in 5 years to pass him
if ovi wants the record, it's his for the taking assuming no lock out or strike |

Washington will be the next Chicago. Ovi’s game is very one dimensional. The entire core of that team is aging quickly. I don’t see him getting there. He will be 70+ goals short. |

I would love to see a Green Bay vs. Kansas City Super Bowl. A rematch of the 1st SB in the NFL 100 season is too good. |
