Doubtful any team wants Bogo. He'll be here the rest of the year.

Sabres are off for over 10 days ...... and roch could use some help during that time

Now that botts has a 10 day window, I’m am
Assuming he will do a nice healthy debrief with his coaches. Do you think we see any deals get done? I know “he’s been working the phones”... but it’s time to settle some crap out....

1- stop playing bogo over Miller. And figure out a way to send bogo and his turntables packing.

2- figure out what the hell is wrong with Hutton. And if it’s just that he stinks, call up Jonas. I know hutton’s a great guy. Such a great locker room presence. Awesome. Dude ain’t won a game since October. If he’s hurt ir him. If he stinks, oh well, you can’t keep riding Ullmark the way they have.

3- figure out what you need to do, to put a more traditional 12-6 lineup together....

4- sign Samson over this break! Dudes gonna get expensive in the back half of the year. Sign him now! Save some cash!

2- I definitely think Hutton is hurt or something is wrong with him. Someone had that rumor about his wife. I definitely think there is something to it

3- with skinner and olofsson coming back soon We won’t see that 11-7 lineup anymore.

4- Like 89 said. You sign the guy and then you know sort of where you are at cap wise and can make moves

It takes two to tango. As fans we always see things from a team point of view.

Put yourself in Sam’s shoes though. Why sign before the year started ? Why even sign now ?

Sam’s agent probably told Botts “we’ll talk after the season” which makes the most logical sense.

I wouldn’t even be surprised if this went through to the beginning of next year just like how Rantenen et al did this pass season

Not on D though. They need forward help. When Eric Cornel is on your 1st line, you got problems.

As shadenfreudian as it is watching the Leafs' recent struggles, I'd still prefer them to make the playoffs, albeit barely. Their 1st rounder they traded this year is top 10 protected. And if they missed the playoffs, it feels like the lotto would go their way.

Yep. When you get 2 NHL players out of 9 picks, it's not good. Maybe Johasson will be a serviceable goalie, we'll see. That 2nd rd is a waste.

And a 1st round playoff exit, if it goes 6 or 7 games, may not lead to big changes in TO, whereas missing the playoffs is far more likely to lead to defensive shoring up.

It's also difficult to celebrate too hard when conference opponent Carolina is getting an extra 1st this year. They've got two 1sts, 2nds, and 3rds (buffalo's) this draft to reload. 8.4M is the most they're paying anyone. They're set up nicely, although the Gardiner move was head-scratching and Staal's contract isn't getting any better.

It's close, Wayne at 0.601 GPG, while Ovi is at 0.611; exactly 1 percentage point higher.

Wayne played until age 38 and saw his production fall off a cliff (for him, lol) the last 3 years, and had a short season his 4th last (only played 18 games).
Ovi needs 203 more goals to pass him for total goals scored. He has 34 so far this season, pacing for 57 (13 more), which would leave him short by 190.
He then would need a 48 goal per season pace for 4 more years, that takes him to age 38 also to pass him...but can he keep that pace that long, considering injuries, slowing down. He has a very long track record of missing only 2 -3 games a year, or playing the full 82....one could say the odds will catch up to him.

Like I said, will be close depending on how long he plays for...if he plays long enough into his early 40's and stays close to that pace for 4 or 5 years more, he could blow by him by say 100+/-

- IonSabres

He played 80 games that year 62 with LA and 18 with St Louis. Had 102 points. Just saying.

Great info.
Bossy will never live up to the legend Ric Seiling drafted by the Sabres 1 spot ahead of Bossy.
Who knew Tim Murray was running the draft back in '77

Don’t forget the sieve we took in the second round instead of John Tonelli.

Agree on everything. I can't imagine they are anywhere close to a deal. There's going to be a huge divide here and Sam only benefits from waiting for other deals to be signed first.

Yeah. Neither side wants to negotiate mid-year. JB hasn't shown any inclination to do it (see Skinner, J) and Sam gets to try for another career high point total.

Feels like another short term deal, bringing him to UFA status, is coming as Botterill's MO seems to be only paying big money to players when he absolutely has to.

I think the minimum the team would agree to is 4 years, buying out 2 UFA years. I think this probably ends up as a 5 year deal.
