That 's right give Special K a real opportunity even when he commits a blunder, send him back out. As long as he is not committing a lot of mistakes, give him a shot of confidence by allowing him to play regular shifts for at least a few consecutive games. Whether you cut bait with him later on should be based a lot upon this current trial.

Laud him up/not quite that way....he graded out as a #12 overall NHL draft for a reason. He skates and hits/checks eh? Looking solid

For Montreal the rookie #1 round center got his first goal this season and has been in the lineup last few games. Ryan Poehling, American kid from Minnesota, returns from I believe concussion early this season Only one goal in 20 gp but had hat trick in only game which was last game of last season. #25 overall 2017.

Can't figure it out by 21? Dump him!

I don't know if he will develop further. Neither do you.

If they dump him, and he develops into a decent 24 year old top six wing, will you come on here and roast Stan for giving up on him?

Sample future post...

How could Stanblow not know this guy would turn a corner at 23?!?!?

Can see it now, Just like all the people who wanted to punt Terabyte to the curb and figure that the book was written on him at an early age cause he wasn’t a subscriber to JJ’s strength and fitness club.

Give it up Mo. Patience Schmatience!!!

While it's good to see a couple wins, winning against Calgary and Nashville would have given me more hope then possibly winning these three including a win tonight. THe hawks are a better team than Anaheim and Ottawa and Montreal, but Calgary and Nashville are teams that they could measure up against.

With injuries you're seeing how paper thin this team is. Honestly don't think they can measure up against Calgary and Nash without Saad and Strome.

This team when fully healthy (with DeHaan and Shaw) should make the playoffs.

As opposed to early in the season, the Hawks were in both those games, and were winnable. They also beat both teams on the road. I would say (standings aside), that the Hawks are equal to Hashville and Calgary, something I would not have believed early in the season (especially that beatdown by Nashville in the first game.)

Burr, Jammer and Sharpie said it best last night...this team does not have the depth to spread out among 4 lines.

Why not load up your top 2 lines and have your bottom 6 plays a simple game just to keep you in it. The bottom 6 have been great at filling that role all year?

Overcoaching here?

that would be my scenario...

I thought I saw some bad posturing on the ice from Kane last nite - after it became obvious that Kubelik had "scored" on the first goal, not him, and after Toews maintained the puck and scored instead of passing off to him in the OT.

But - maybe I'm just reading way too much into limited TV shots.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar....

i don't think so...toews made the right move...patient and then rip it...

Kubalik - Toews - Kane
Dcat - Dach - Kampf (put a defensive forward with the double Ds)
Smith - Carpenter - Nylander (had success earlier in the year)
mishmash 4th line (maybe Sikura, Highmore, Caggiula), doesnt matter, just limit icetime (this team have horrendous depth)

All this talk of re-signing Lehner or Crow and the lack of depth has got me wondering: would you rather pay Lehner top dollar (let's say 6-8M per year) or use the money to go out and add another forward to provide more depth?

No way. That would be a UFA signing, and that would be a large mistake right now.

Wow...that's...shocking to say the very least. Stan doesn't have the balls to fire his puppet...err...I mean Head Coach in Colliton to sign him. Would be pretty awesome cuz that guy has done great with Vegas to this point.

Anyone know why he got fired? I know they're not lighting up the Pacific Division right now and are in 9th place, but they're three points out of first place and five out of being in 2nd for the West. Kinda crazy if you ask me especially considering the success he's had with the team the past two years

No, and that is why you do not give up on a 21 year old that has the natural talent, the Hawks are bereft of top 6 forward talent in the system (Dach I consider already a Hawk and part of the top 6)

I'm not saying spend 6-8M on one FA per-say, more so would do you think is more important to this teams success? Depth up front (possibly on the backend)? Or having a top notch Goalie?

Similar to his firing in Florida, where the team is playing middling after a great year or 2. In Florida it was differences in mgmt, could it be the same case here?

Wow.

I wonder if Vegas management left him curbside to find his own way home like Florida did?

Could be, they went from an expansion team phenomenon to a veteran laden star team (Pacioretty, Stone, Stasny) pretty quickly.

It depends on when the plan calls for them to contend. If next year, they need a top six wing, two defensemen, and a goalie. If down the road is the goal, they don't need a stud goalie now or depth at forward; they just need to develop the kids they have and add more kids.

I think you need either Lehner or Crow and Lankinen next year. Lehner maybe $7mil for several years (my preference would be 3 years, but you would probably have to go longer), but no MTC/NMC clauses. If you sign Lehner than Crow is gone. If you cannot sign Lehner than sign Crow for 1 year (2 years max). Some think he would sign for $3 mil. I think it would take substantially more. I would be ok with 1 year at $5mil +/-.

Totally agree. Gallant would install the urgency that he insisted on to this lackluster system of softness. JC can be demoted back to Rockford. Current players that won't hustle for 60 minutes can be shipped out. This is the perfect coach to take underachievers and new youth to the next level in the future. As a STH I would be back on board with any changes he deems necessary.
Let's see what Rocky has in his gut about this team for the future.

Caviat.....if something about Gallant's character has caused his firing, then NIX
to the above.

He's been fired twice in a short time. Think the vets who don't want to work hard would accept him?
