His value will never be higher. Trade him RFN

Actually think Smith is one of those quiet under the radar pickups that can really help a team that is close to winning a cup.

Dougie Hamilton just taken off the ice.... looks like bad knee injury.

Our Dmen value looks to keep going up with these injuries coming up before the trade deadline.

Let us hope a couple of GMs feel the same way.

Canes gave up 18 SOG. Pretty good. 3 went in, and they lost 3-2. Not good.

They need a goalie.

Maybe they should fire Hynes and hire Gallant.

Hold that thought and let's check back on the morning of Tuesday January 28th.

Whoops! I bet you didn’t see that one coming. Of course, it’s obvious you didn’t, based on your comment. The ANA game was the one I figured NSH would win.

How do you lose to ANA at home? The Preds better be bringing their ‘A’ game against the Sabres and Leafs. I figure they manage to squeeze out a win against BUF, then TOR lights ‘em up, around 6-3.

I hope you don't bet on your sports opinions. ‘Doh indeed.

How do you lose to ANA at home, after getting your coach fired, and while below the playoff Mendoza line? And the 4th goal wasn’t an empty netter.

ANA has only 13 ROWs. Only OTT & DET have fewer. -29 goal differential. They are awful.

Renne not interested in stopping pucks now that he has a taste of goal-scoring.

Not saying they should launch JC, but if they had any inkling of doing so I'd jump on Gallant if I were them. The Knights snap it around as well as anyone in the league. Just makes no sense for the Knights to fire GG. At some point they are going to need a guy who's not a yes man who isn't afraid to ruffle a few feathers upstairs. I saw a few of their practices in Vegas and was impressed. Crawford's son works for the hawks so he has exposure and has to play nice. Gallant coaches like he played, all in all the time.

So what under-achieving, former 1st round pick do the Canes have that the Hawks can trade a d-man for?

Hadn Fleury. They won’t give up Pesce while in playoff hunt, but if we send Lehner and a Dman, we should be able to get at least Fleury from them.

How much better is Koekkoek than Gilbert (at this point in their careers)? This much, from Powers in ‘The Athletic’.

3. One of the reasons for the Blackhawks’ recent success is the third defensive pairing of Maatta and Koekkoek, which has helped stabilize the lineup. The third pairing, especially when Dennis Gilbert and Maatta were together, had been a weakness.

Over their last five games together, Maatta and Gilbert were on the ice for 31 shot attempts for and 58 against for a 34.83 Corsi percentage, 19 shots on goal for and 30 against and four goals for and two goals against.

Since Koekkoek replaced Gilbert in the lineup, the Maatta-Koekkoek pairing has been on the ice for 64 shot attempts for and 36 against for a 64.0 Corsi percentage, 29 shots on goal for and 24 against and four goals for and one against.

They had a guy like that. His last name began with a Q.
