Hey Tyler, I think you should post a poll every morning:

What is the state of the Hawks HB board today:

Blow it up, we suck

Don't do anything stupid Stan

Bring in some rentals and go for it, because season ticket holders won't renew if you don't

- LAHawk

today: we are waving "embrace the playoffs"

if the leafs blow them off the ice it will be raise the "embrace the tank"

With Strome and Saad knocking at the door, who else wants to see:

Kubalik - Toews - Kane
Debrincat - Strome - Dach
Caggiula - Carpenter - Saad
Highmore - Kampf - Smith/Nylander

- catrisc

I like the idea of it, but part of wants to see either Dach slide down with Saad to give him some offensive punch OR for the Hawks to get someone to go along with him on that 3rd line. Someone who plays good defense but has good offensive punch as well. Too bad Stan didn't go out and get JPG before he busted out and is gonna get traded for a massive overpayment at the TDL

Last 10 games:

7-3
GF: 36 goals (3.60 average would be top-3 in NHL)
GA: 28 goals (2.80 average would be top-7 in NHL)

The boys are looking much better. Getting Strome and Saad back will obviously help.

Still a lot of season left to be played. One more month to truly gauge what direction this team is going.

As weird as it sounds, I thought Dach played his best hockey paired with Smith and Carpenter. Take your pick as to who actually centers that line.

I would like Saad with ADB and Strome, but not sure who would actually play right wing.

I think Kampf Highmore Caggiula would be a hell of a line as well.

So basically, I'm just throwing crap at the wall and hoping something sticks...

4K and Matta paired together the last 2 games had 0 high danger chances against them, err lets see how good that pairing is against the Leafs.

I was thinking

Toews - Kubalik-XXX
Saad - Strome-Kane
ADB-Dach-XXX
Mixture of the rest

This way you are keeping 2/3 of 2 lines together, and you give Kane talent on his line, instead of having him play with Carpenter and Sikura.

If Strome, Saad get gassed because first game back from conditioning, slide Kane up with Toews for a shift.

Reason above is definitely why I never coached higher than bantam's LOL

Article on Kane and his time with the Knights before his number retirement ceremony this weekend.

https://nationalpost.com/...65-47b8-a24f-fd909dfdaeb0

Couple of interesting tidbits to me:
- Nearly every Knight from south of the border over the last 10 years has cited Kane as a reason for their interest in London. You can’t buy the type of advertising he provided for the program every time he scored a highlight-reel goal.

- His USNTD scoring record was broken in 2015 by Matthews, which I like to think is part of their friendly rivalry and makes me hope he plans to break the 1000 point barrier in Toronto on HNiC

- Kane re: Hunters: “Are you kidding me? This is what hockey’s all about. They wanted you to put up good numbers. They wanted you to excel and feel good about yourself. You like that about a coach. They did a good job of putting you in great situations.” (can't help but think of JC putting him on 3rd line with the likes of Carpenter)

- He loved being around late legendary trainer Don Brankley. Equipment manager Chris Maton, who he later invited as his guest to the NHL awards, and former London assistant GM Jim McKellar, now a Blackhawks scout, kept him in stitches. “I’d go back in the room to where the skates were sharpened and hang out with those guys and they’d make me laugh so much,”

With all the coaching changes the past couple of years, JC is ranked 16th and Q 18th in longest tenured coaches currently. That is crazy.

The bottom lines of Ottawa and Montreal are berift of offensive talent. They may have had 0 high danger chances with no defensive pairings on the ice. Toronto will be a different story.

I like K4 better than most posters. I think he could develop into a decent 3rd pairing defender.

Yup. Carey Price looked about as "can't miss" as anybody for a long term deal. Now, In just the 2nd year of EIGHT at 10.5 per.....the Habs are regretting it already. The remaining six (especially the last 3-4) will be as ugly as Heck!!!

That is amazing....

Meanwhile, the Steelers have had three coaches since the 1960's. And a bunch of titles.

95>92, and I don’t mean mathematically.
- Ogilthorpe2

92 was MUCH better early in the year was a constant threat. Some great coaching has obviously neutered him.

Next 17 games (through the end of February, so a bit past the TDL) - not a favorable schedule.

5 at home, 12 on the road.

Mostly against teams either in the playoffs or fighting to get there - only 4 against teams not currently in a playoff spot.

The season is here - lets see what they can do.

If they win 8 out of next 12 would have 66 points. Then would have to win 15 out of last 22 just to get to 96. I'm not counting any 1 point games but it looks daunting forget how many other teams are involved.

They have seemed to play better hockey on the road (although the stats say mostly on special teams). So maybe not as unfavorable as we think.

No, I'm not riding the Playoffs train, but it would be nice to see them keep up the higher pace (and quality) of play.

Could the Blackhawks REALLY be talking to Vegas about Gus, and asking for an "already drafted prospect of high prominence"...

Peyton Krebs?

Dont hang me out on this one, but just heard it and it rings true in my mind that Gus would fit, but they also have their firsts and five 2nds in the next two drafts....

The Toronto game is big but I think the game we have to win is Sunday against Winnipeg in regulation time.
I also think Bowman will not make that many moves. Maybe move one defenseman and one forward. I would just stay the course.
If someone offers something insane for one of the goalies move them.

Well, Vegas just canned a coach who has done a darn good job there, showing impatience. Maybe they're desperate enough to do something silly....
