Is that the Stanfield who had big years with the Rangers on a line with Gilbert and Ratelle?

Hodge was 6'2" over 200 lbs, Esposito was bigger. That had to be fun seeing them coming down the chute when players were smaller.

- rpeters01

No your thinking of Vic Hadfield. Stanfield centered the B’s second line with Bucyk and Mackenzie

esposito parked big large fat ass in the slot with in 10 feet of the crease and did this
from 68-69 to 74-75: 49 43 76 65 55 68

i know big time hindsight but if he stays with the hawks...holy poop they beat those damn habs for the cup in early 70's

So Crow @ $4M, or Lehner @$7M, what say you? Elbows, no need to answer.

I say it’s going to be a very interesting off season between the pipes.

Eight years?

(frank)

(frank) No.

- Ogilthorpe2

Why not? Because of something that happened years ago and he’s been fine since?

To be honest, this team with current personnel does not need a $7M goalie, we are not there yet and doubt we will be there next year. If we were cup contenders, then yes. Both Crawford and Lehner have issues, one physical and one mental, would not wish either on anyone. I hope they both get past their issues or at least become stable. Go Hawks!
- Angotti

Crawford you can’t fix.

Lehner is doing fine since and hasn’t regressed once.

Edit: also the team isn’t that far off. If they were, then you might as well blow it all up.

Show that stat to Bergevin, then trade Crawford for Denault.

Delia's year has so far has been a tale of two seasons. Thank you to those who shared the article earlier about his life struggle away from hockey that clearly impacted his game.

Earlier in the season he was not tracking pucks well and flopping everywhere to try and make saves. The last several games, though, he has been outstanding: seeing every puck even amongst a sea of bodies and sticks amazingly making saves in heavy traffic.

Also, like his initial set of games last year on the Blackhawks, he has been economical in his movement: compact, efficient, agile.

Lankinen has been going the opposite direction. I wouldn't say he's been horrible as none of the Rockford goalies have been getting goal support. Yet, Lankinen's play of late has been so-so.

Good to have Cags back
- pdx2ord

Agree, great to see Caggiula back in the lineup and being an impact player. If and when the Hawks make the playoffs, he could be a difference maker in big games being a pain in the butt for other teams, scoring back-breaking goals, and bringing an impeccable compete level.

I do agree also with Elbows in fearing his concussion history.

That said, though, prospects like Entwistle, Hagel, and Soderlund could also prove to be similar bottom sixers as Caggiula if they hit potential. Particularly Entwistle and Soderlund, they have track records of being big game players who do the little things to win and lay it all on the ice each shift.

Kurashev to a large degree as well but he has a chance to play middle 6 in a scoring role.

OMG...how can ANYONE say that Toews is earning his 10.5 million???? Has to be one of the worst contacts in the entire NHL.

The middle class of the NHL has been squeezed out. It’s all high paid vets, and entry level contracts.

Welcome to manipulation of the free market.

Oh, will we ever stop talking about his contract.

It’s too high. Yes. Not sure it was avoidable at the time - and the league economists all thought the cap was going to keep increasing by double-digit percentages each year - but it’s cost8ng the Hawks - say - $4MM pet year too much cap hit.

But last season and this, he is definitely play8ng like a top-line Center. Scoring? Point per game last season, same this season after the first 11 games, he’ll wind up with 25-45-70 or better, skating like he did in the Cup years, 200 foot game again, winning FOs...

When can we stop worrying about his contract? We know it’s costing the Hawks - we know he’s not worth $10.5MM - but it’s there - and he’s not a bust. Plenty of worse deals out there. Time to recognize what he’s providing - now, not 5 years ago - and that is top-line play.

Agree on Nylander. Also wondering why LA did the Kubalik trade if he was looking ready to bust out. I don't agree with calling the Hawks a crap team though.

There used to be a "Richard" Tracey cartoon where one of the bad guys was named Mumbles and that's who Pulford reminded me of - not because he was a bad guy but because he'd give an interview and it would be like mumble mumble mumble. What did he just say?

Hodge was a young guy that they thought would never reach his potential. Played 4th line on the Hawks. Stanfield for the Hawks was the equivalent of a 13th forward today. The Hawks were going to lose him in the expansion draft. Esposito was considered a lavender sniffer in addition to speaking his mind.

Scenario sound familiar???

Yeah. My old man ran into him there a couple of times. Got him all excited telling him the Hawks were getting new uniforms.

Then dropped the punch line on him. Told him yeah, skirts and blouses.

Unfortunately, we only play in Montreal once a year......and only play the Habs twice a year. Or Crawford would be truly ELITE.
