I agree 100%. In all fairness Delia looked pretty good at times in front of a VERY poor Defense last year. I'd want to see Lankinen to get at least 10 games in to see what he can do. I just meant with calling him up when Crow or Lehner got hurt that I was surprised he didn't get at least one game in at that time.

He looked shell shocked would dive at faked shots before they sent him back down.

Dach Better be as good as Austin Matthews to get that kind of money
- wonthecup10

This is Stan we’re talking about, if he’s half as good as Matthews then Dach will still get Matthews money.

Only reason Perlini didn't get $2.5 aav is Stan signed Lehner. Elbows should look at the bright side.

I'm looking at Auston Matthews $11.6 that will be going on its 4th year when Dach's elc is up.
- rpeters01

You also said Dinky was going to get $8 mill. You're always overestimating contracts.

If Stan tries to give Dach $12 million / year he should be fired immediately. It's gross incompetence to pay any single player that much (even Mc David). These teams are never going to win a cup paying players that much. It doesn't leave enough space to fill out the rest of the team. The highest cap hit to ever win the cup was Ovechkin at ~$9.5 million. At some point, GMs have to stop being stupid.

Well....let's say the Oilers said "take it or leave it" with a $9M offer to McDavid, and he played out his RFA years before leaving at 28 years old. How does that work out for the GM of the Oilers?

Tough guy negotiating works out great on the internet.

I don't think they should just unload everyone to unload everyone. Especially because in the NHL with how diluted the talent pool is and tough the cap can be just about every team is a few pieces away.

Just because Kane is on the team and there have competent goalies makes them kind of competitive.

They should be 3 solid centers deep with Strome Dach and Toews and Keith is still a very good player. A bit more mobility and push from the blue line and Debrincat shooting closer 15% is probably enough to get them into a playoff spot assuming they are giving up closer to 30 shots a night rather than 40.

It is a pretty thin margin of error. That being said, I still think their coach is clueless and that their pro scouting in NA seems to be off. Torterella or Trotz would probably have this group in a playoff spot.

Curious as to why you said this? Being that Q couldn't get this team into the playoffs, what do Trotz or Tortorella bring to the table that our previous and current coach do not?

Only takes two to drive prices up to newest salary cap and there's always two desperate to bring a new big name in.

Speaking of the mustachioed one, this was a good profile in The Athletic today. I definitely felt it was time for Q to move along, but can't say I didn't shed a tear or two reading this.

"Tough guy negotiating"? I thought you were better than that.

Let's say the scenario played out the way you said. Then the Oilers would have gotten 6 years out of him at proper value and he could test the open market when his skills are diminishing. And in the meantime, they'd have a better chance at a cup with the extra $4 million. Or, you know, if they weren't going to contend, in the last year of his contract, they could trade him for a nice package.

People seem to be forgetting the lesson the '18 Vegas team taught us. Top heavy teams don't win. 3 players costing $7 million are better than 2 players at $10.5 million.

Not this year, like you said he would.

Regardless, I bet Dinky just ensured he'll get sent packing before the last year of his contract. No way he's worth $9 million per year.

Agreed. They didn't learn their own lesson. They're worse than they were in '18 when they had a team full of second and third liners.

I may have said their stats were heading there and ADB did end up there his last year: but I never said I wanted to pay ADB that aav, and I've been saying all season I have doubts going to $8 with Strome as some have said which I am not one of but he will probably end up around $6 which is expensive for a 3C but probably where the league is at when your 3C is not elc. It's ok I write this $&+;'"! for fun.

I think he got too stuck on veterans and Stan made some really dumb moves trying to appease him. On the flip side, Q never forgave Stan just like the fans for trading Hammer which was the right move. I don't really know just going by things Q said.

Isn’t Marchand exactly the kind of jag off you are always wishing the Hawks had?

Maybe so, maybe I was wrong on what I called him, he’s one of those guys that you hate when he’s wearing the other teams uniforms but probably would love to be wearing yours.
Yes I would like a couple like him that can play the game also.Starting with Tom Wilson.
