Tyler Cameron: Up and down we go I could write that this team is destined for a 3rd straight early spring.

I could write about "where the Hawks go from here?"

I could write about how the injuries are the excuse for last night's inexcusable performance.

I could write about how a goalie scored a goal last night on the Hawks.

But I'm not. I'm tired of it.

Here are a couple of tidbits from on and off the ice:

"The Hawks take on Anaheim Saturday night. This is a winning game on paper, but we know that it doesn't really matter with this Hawks team. Let's see how "desperate" they feel vs. the Ducks."

nope...it does not matter one bit...

injury bug has hit the hogs hard too.

i can't recall over the last three years when the hawks have had this many injuries with key players missing substantial time...

i agree toews has been really good for the last month plus...

another lousy start at home burries them...they really suck at home

I didn't forecast this year unfolding as it is. Sucks - going to have to wait till next year. Another wasted year for Toews, Kane, and Keith.

Unless the Front Office is trying to seriously compete in the playoffs next year, trade Toews and Keith, it's a waste to keep them.

Hossa maybe be one of the best Hawks all time. Saying Kubalik is as good as Hossa is ridiculous. Comparing Kubalik to Hossa is not ridiculous.

You can compare Gus to Josi and that is not saying Gus is as good as Josi.

Definition of "Compare" - measure the similarity or dissimilarity between.

Here is the comparisons between Hossa and Kubalik:
1) wicked shot
2) high hockey IQ
3) plays a 200' game
4) finds open spaces in the offensive zone
5) can cycle the puck
6) willing to play physical in both ends of the ice and can win board battles
7) strong on his skates
8) soft hands
9) can stick handle very well

If Hossa was a "10" in all of these areas maybe Kubalike is a "7"+/- depending on the area. That is a comparison.

Side note. Kubalik has the 2nd most goals on the Hawks playing only 13 minutes per night, with virtually no power play time, and for most of the season playing on the 3rd line with such offensive stalwarts as Kampf, Smith, and the likes.

If he played 18 minutes per night with Toews and Saad and got some PP time he probably would have closer to 20 goals and 40 points roughly 1/2 way through the season. Not bad for someone adjusting to the NHL.

Nylander is Perlini 2.0. Don't like his work ethic and ice awareness, send him to Rockford.

Falling out of the race could be the best thing to happen to the Hawks.

They can play Kubailik, Dach, Nylander, Boqvist, Sikura, Quennville, Highmore, Gilbert, K4, maybe Lankinen if you trade a goalie.
They do not need to rush back Saad, Strome or Shaw.
They can back off minutes for Kane and Keith.

They can see if there are any takers for Gus, Crow or Lehner, Smith.

Personally I would keep Carpenter. Low cap hit, good PK, good faceoffs, can play wing or center, signed for 2 more years, only 28.

So, Toews has been playing his ass off lately. That's good. Being the Captain of the team, why wasn't he doing so from day one?

Sikura - im guessing he’s moved out in whatever TDL trades Stan has lined up - they certainly seem to see something in him that they don’t like.

Kubalik - why wasn’t he out there at the end with Crawford pulled? Best player on the ice for Chicago last nite - scored two of their last three goals - so why are the 4 forwards Toews, Kane, AdB and Dach? Does Colliton have a clue?

Why stick with Nylander/Sikura-Carpenter-Kane for so many games and so deep into the game last nite? Kane can’t get anything going with those linemates - no time and/or space. Does Colliton have a clue? Add his comment about why he doesn’t start with Kubalik-Toews-Kane (he’s tried it and they don’t start games well....).

The slow starts -IMO - are the fault of the coaches and ice-leaders not getting them ready. Someone has to take charge.

Toews is playing great. I think he likes playing with Kubalik. I would be ok with them giving Nylander or Sikura minutes with those two.

I feel sorry for Kane, playing on the 3rd line. He needs to play with some combination of ADB, Strome, Dach.

Then solidify one line with some combination of Carp, Caggiula, Smith, Highmore, Quennville.

The 3rd line would be a mish mash with Kampf and whoever is not on the other lines.

The Blackhawks have become a 'Development Team.' The coaching staff and most of the players are developing in the NHL at the same time...I'm not a General Manager, but I'm fairly confident this isn't how you retool.

Retooling is not giving your new coach with zero nhl experience three years to develop. By that time, you will have lost valuable years from Kane, Keith and Toews.

It's time to call a spade a spade. Which I do not think the Front Office is ready to do. They believe they can compete but also recognize their deficiencies. They themselves are conflicted and it shows on the ice.

Very sad to watch.

For years, all I heard was how Kane makes everyone better, and that for 10.5, Toews should do the same. Now, I don't completely disagree with that, but top 6 players need to play with top 6 players. They have to play with guys that have the IQ to know what they're going to do with the puck. If they don't, they will look like Toews for the last 4 years (exception of last year with Kane), and Kane of the last week.

Agree. I do not like Kane and Toews playing together. But they should both be playing with linemates that are top 6 or have top 6 potential. Playing Kane with scrubs and then double shifting him makes no sense.

You see players that have a great year one year and then a lousy year the next year, look at their linemates.

Nylander has given pretty much zero reason for some time to be dressing let alone playing in the top 6.

But this was Stan's mistake, so he is going to make sure that pony is ridden right into the ground.

Kane should not be playing on a stand alone line with two linemates who cannot score. At least he should be with Dach and Debrincat.

This is not a playoff team, and probably won't be unless all the walking wounded come back healthy, which isn't happening. That blue line isn't taking the team to the playoffs. With a healthy deHaan and Seabrook, maybe.

No offense meant to Carpenter - he is earning his corn.

here is what the Hawks need to do....SHOOT THE F'ing PUCK...JUST SHOOT!!!
but not you Duncan Keith, please don't shoot. You wait until the last moment and it gets blocked 9 times out of 10.

to much passing, especially when you are behind...

good to see #91 back out there....liked the energy he brought last night

Top 6 players who negotiate salaries such as Kane and Toews did should not expect to play with top 6 players. That is the reality in the NHL Cap world. They need to learn how to play with the Nylanders, Sikuras, and Quenvilles because the talent they were surrounded by when they were paid $6M is just not going to be there.

Cagguila and Highmore are the types of players you build around. These guys have a pulse and demonstrate effort and energy. But I cringe every time Cags is involved in a collision now.
I know there is a lot of Nylander love out there, but this guy does nothing for me. I would not be upset if we cut bait completely with him.

I can just imagine this scenario on this board....

Stan trades Nylander at the TDL for a bag of pucks.
Nylander develops into a 20 goal scorer in a couple years.
Stan absolutely roasted here for giving up too early on a 21 year old kid that he traded Joker to get.

No he can't.
Just like he couldn't bear to bite the bullet on the great Ville Pokka.
Ranked #293 in the great KHL league, which obviously must be much better than the NHL.

Cut bait with a guy who is 21 and build around guys not good enough to win. There's a plan.

Don't look now but Sikura has as many goals as Rinne. Not sure who would have more if they played the same amount of games?

Tyler, you’re the man! You keep taking the bullet for this team. Do the best to put on a game face, a lot of us better piece season ticket holders feel the same way you , We sound like broken records.

Cold hard to say. Stan bomb in Moscow, Jeremy Carlton is no NHL head coach, he is in over his head, they should’ve left him down in Rockford to “cook“ like Toronto did for about four hours.
A lot of players that are playing in Rockford Stan Bowman has acquired post 2015 or just death, AHL players, I believe Buffalo stuck it to us, as much as I want to try to give this kid some time. And all those other players that everybody is hyping about down in Rockford. Forget it.
I hope to see MITCHELL Comes in and at least shows something.
Until Rocky and John make sweeping changes nothing is going to change. I had stated in a post yesterday that I felt in the article in Chicago tribune, it’s Stan Bowman sounded way too comfortable he had the ringing endorsement from his bosses is giving one to the coach. That does not sit well with a lot of the in-state are close and day-to-day basis forking over between 10 and $20,000 a year for season tickets. I know there is no quick fix but if they are going to tank and go all Lynn they need to do with the Cubs and White Sox did and slash ticket prices be forthright and come out and tell the teens what is going On.
