Gee - if....

Nylander-Toews-Kane
AdB-Dach-XXXXX
Saad-Strome-Kubalik
Carpenter-Kampf-Quenneville

Nylander could be the key to a lot of good things - the "if" above - I still hold out hope for the 21 year old.

- StLBravesFan

Considering what we have, this isn't bad. I just would really like to be able to find a guy with a really good shot to play opposite Kane. It's why I wouldn't be too upset with the Hawks getting Hoffman (under the right circumstances with more return).

Yeah, I think it's way too early to give up on Nylander. Some games in the press box have paid dividends with other players and hopefully with Nylander too.

Speaking of "ifs" - and this one is probably a bigger if than Nylander turning into a consistent top-6 winger - IF the Hawks miss the playoffs and win the draft lottery - Lafreniere sure would look nice in a Hawks sweater:

Saad-Toews-Kubalik
Cat-Strome-Kane
Lafreniere-Dach-Nylander

Looks like a pretty good top-9.

BTW - if this hasn't been mentioned yet ... I recall hearing Perlini's name mentioned during one shift last night and saw him buzzing around with his above average skating ... and then nothing. He finished -1 with 10:05 TOI with 1 SOG. For the season, he has played in 25 games, averaging over 11 mins TOI and has 0 goals and 2 assists.

Regula could end up a bust and the Hawks still won that trade.

Doubtful that Saad, in a contract year, would make it to training camp if that happened. Sell, tank, repeat!

From ESPN: "The news comes after general manager David Poile said in a Jan. 2 radio interview that he was "not contemplating making a coaching change at this time" but instead was "open for business" for a trade. But after Nashville lost in a shootout to the last-place Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night, Laviolette was removed the following day."

As Q always says..."things change quickly in our business" I guess so.

Here the typical and charitable (and rightly so) epitaph. But really you do suck so get the hell outta here. He only had a year left on his contract. so he just gone a year early. New Seattle coach?

"Under the leadership of Peter and Kevin, our organization reached unprecedented heights -- from our franchise-altering run to the Stanley Cup Final to a Presidents' Trophy and our first two Central Division titles," Poile said in a statement. "Their passion for the game, ability to motivate a team and drive to be the best makes this a difficult decision. On behalf of the entire organization, I would like to thank Peter and Kevin for all their contributions to the Nashville Predators over the past five-and-a-half seasons."

Yup coaches fault because their HOF general manager makes all these awesome trades (and has a lot of banners hanging over the ice surface) but never has touched a cup in 35 years as a GM

No, I’d concur. Stan knew what he had drafting Dach, and everything the team has done since the draft has been to have him start his development in the NHL this year.

Dach was the guy I wanted them to take, and the organization has done everything with him pretty well so far.

That doesn’t change what I think of Colliton coaching ability.

Better than Dach I'm sure. Another absolute Blowman FAIL!
- HawkintheD

Trade Dach while Stan can recoup some value. Maybe a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

We all know who Stan should have drafted...

I did think he did an excellent job in the 2010 Finals.

I like that Josi has a $9M deal that kicks in next year when he turns 30, and Johansen and Duch are getting $8M well into their 30's and they're going to experience Cap issues while having no real hardware.

I suspect you won't be able to agree with this, but I think the coaching staff and front office have done a solid job slowly feeding Dach more responsibility as he earns it.
- mohel

Dach has done everything but score. Good defensively made plays that create scoring chances and is only going to get bigger and stronger. Like to see at some point in this season dach with dcat and kane. Its a process and learning how to play in the nhl.

They should have more Cups in their future soon - looks like that poster that comes on this site (forget his name) will be taking take over as the Preds new Head Coach. Negotiations over compensation are tense though, his agent is asking for a new mobile home in the trailer park on the outskirts of town and Poile is balking because that would be better than the one he lives in.
