Start Williams on the 4th line and let him get his legs under him. Then, begin to give him some PP time. He can earn his way up the lineup just like anyone else. Carolina has been remarkably healthy this year overall so I'd expect that to even out a bit in the 2nd half, likely giving him additional opportunities to move up.

The top 12 seems set to me, would be kind of a strange move imho. Depth in the AHL is also decent.

William's has leadership qualities that are valuable and he is a well liked locker room presence. Give Brock McGinn a seat in the press box and as someone else has said when injuries happen let him move up the lineup.

yep.

Niederreiter - Aho - Teravainen
Svechnikov - Staal - Foegele
Dzingel - Haula - Necas
Martinook - Wallmark - Williams

incredible to think that that fourth line was essentially the third line going into the playoffs last season.

This is such a no-brainer...NHL depth that cost you no assets except cash...some of which can go on next year's cap..

JW is a know player, known leader, knows the system, rested, and already known in the locker room.

It's not like the Canes are going to make a trade deadline deal either!

Won't be able to afford to if they sign Williams anyway.

Agreed, that might even allow them to trade a winger. I dont know their 3rd and 4th line that much, so I dont know who would make sense
