Toews has a full 'No Movement Clause' in his contract, as does Patrick Kane, neither would accept a trade to Columbus in my opinion. It's up to Bowman to manage the cap situation in Chicago, not Toews and Kane.

Nope . . . nope . . . nope. Agreed that Toews has exceptional talent, and could possibly teach our players "hockey sense", if that's at all possible. But taking Toews at this stage of his career is on the downside. He's a $10.5M cap hit, but actual payment at about $7M/yr.
I think those assets, also including some of Wennberg, Milano, Anderson could be packaged in multiple trades, at least one of which would be a dynamic, top-6 forward, in mid 20's or younger, with term on his contract.
Hopefully Jarmo stays away from giving up any high draft picks, as the cupboard is already pretty bare and needs re-stocked.

The flash of that trade would dim pretty quickly. And as previous commenters said he has a full NTC.

Can't see anyway that Toews or Kane would waive their NMC to go to Columbus or really anywhere else. Seems like they both wanna stay Hawks for life. Things can change, obviously, but I'd be shocked if both don't finish their careers with the Hawks.

There is a group of Haws fans who (if they were GM and he did not have the NMC) would jump at the chance to trade Toews away though so I'm sure you'll get some support for that lol

None of that will happen. CBJ do not look good in the present and the future is not very strong either.

The Jackets need to sell off some assets and commit to a full developmental rebuild. Wait a couple years as some of the older east coast teams (Bruins, Islanders, Caps, Penguins) become more vulnerable as they age.

Players they should consider ditching:

Dubinsky – 5.85 mil/year, UFA 2021-2022
Riley Nash – 2.75mil/year, UFA 2021-2022
Wenneberg – 4.9 mil/year UFA 2023-2024

Dump the contracts and just get some picks.

***I also predict the Jackets will try to sign Braden Holtby this summer if the Caps dont resign him (they likely wont).***

Dubinsky is a buyout, Wennberg might find a suitor , I don't mind having Nash one more year, it's not as if he's sinking this team.

Merry Christmas Thomas and friends,

What a roll this team is on now! If this keeps up Torts should be the Jack Adams award winner again this year.

I've been banging the drum for more offense for years now. But recent results tend to support the idea that the CBJ should not start trading off pieces to do a long-term rebuild.

Korpi is turning into more than an average goalie and had some great games recently. Since backups can be had at the deadline for chump change it's no rush to get one now.

Personally I think from now until mid-Janaury will be the time to show us what the team is and what needs done. If we are close to the playoffs then go get some offense and a veteran goalie and go for it. Just don't spend too many assets to get what's needed.

If there isn't much hope to get in the playoffs don't buy or sell, unless a huge overpay from some playoff team comes around that will make the team a contender in the next year or two.

I think its funny CBJ get some players from Cleveland up and they finally start scoring...why, the young'ns ACTUALLY GO TO THE DAMN NET/ The Older guys are so wrapped up into the "system" all they do is dump in a corner and try to cycle until they lose the puck. The young kids...do everything they can to get the puck at the net off the half wall of from behind the net, exactly how Boston dominated CBJ in the playoffs. The younger players want to score and know they have a limited time to prove they should stay, the older players don't want to anger Torts and just want ot collect their checks.

Brenos,

Context is important sir, but we are talking over the internet...

The CBJ is 6-2-2 in their last ten games and that includes beating your team twice and the Islanders in New York before the Christmas break, with five call-ups from the AHL playing in the game. Yeah the CBJ is not in the playoff hunt yet, but this pretty amazing run will turn some heads if it continues.

Will it continue and the CBJ get in the playoffs and win a series or two? I doubt it, but if Torts can do what he's done with the team recently for the rest of the season who knows what might happen and Torts could end up with the Adams again.

Happy Boxing Day.

Bobs numbers are a complete mystery. Is Florida's D-corps really that bad, or is playing in an empty arena every night hard for him to perform in?

I feel the same way. Also hope Torts lets them continue to play this way . . . not force his system on the players . . . let the players play to their strengths. Don't rain on their zeal and energy by playing "head games" with them by controlling their TOI for mistakes. These guys play with "compete". You don't see them doing a lot of coasting on the ice. They go hard to the puck.

Josh Anderson, this kid is EXACTLY the type of player the Bruins are sorely missing right now, I'm sure the organization is still very high on this kid but as the season moves on, I'm wondering if there is a fit between the two clubs where they could make a trade.

What are the Blue Jackets biggest Needs right now ??
The Bruins do have some depth on the Forward side and the D side.

I'm the GM for the Bruins for the Holiday Break

Don't believe you'd want to give up what we need - start with DeBrusk + pick.

I think we could work something out, not DeBrusk, (Josh is key to having someone to play with DeBrusk and Krejci) but Heinen or Bjork and a 1st or 2nd, I think were close
Heinen's numbers are very similar actually

ya...ya we just need the GM Jobs and we could make our clubs better

Cheers Boys, hope you guys put it together, I Enjoy watching Bluejacket Hockey

I def respect Torts and what he has down with the depleted lineup. It will be interesting to see if it continues with Korpi out 4-6 weeks. The CBJ cant catch a break!

Thank you for the kind reply Brenos, I appreciate it.

And now Texier goes down. I wonder how many ECHL players will get time on the team in a couple weeks.

It was also interesting how Pens fans are complaining about their injuries, I wonder how many of them would want to trade teams for a while.
