Pretty sad stuff about Tim Thomas.
People really need to start getting educated on post concussion syndrome. |

Mike Augello: Leafs third period defensive lapse costs in loss to Calgary - mikeinbuffalo
from last thread:
the more things change, the more they stay the same🤦♂️
derbust is still our enforcer 🤦♂️
the d corps is still lacking d🤦♂️
greedy willi is still floating around getting points for himself when it’s not too dangerous 🤦♂️
our backup is still a sieve or, these creampuffs think that that’s their night off 🤦♂️
any way you sugar coat it, .500 hockey ain’t gonna cut it the rest of the way🤦♂️
neither is this team 🤦♂️
you can jizz your underpants all you want over regular season wins against better teams but these pantywaists have proven over and over again that they can’t maintain this type of play for any length of time and that their style of play and personnel will not achieve the ultimate goal 🤦♂️
they’ll get pointz and sell tickets tho👍🤣 |

work your neck 👍
studies indicate that the stronger your neck is, the less your chance of concussion 👍🏿

Concussions are very common.
PCS isn’t but when it happens it’s rough. |

so can you agree that lowering your risk of concussion may lower your risk of post concussion syndrome? |

Weird. Never heard that before. I wonder what the medical/scientific explanation is for that. I'm not doubting that it's true, just curious as to why. |

Well Dubas? I guess that your flash and dash team is not what you thought the NHL to be? Willy needs to be moved for multiple reasons. First, he floats. He also is streaky. He is a perimeter player. Lastly, his contract is a millstone around the team's neck in a salary cap world. You gave it to him, so you trade his a$$ out of town. Defense needs to get bigger and better. Stop fukcing around and get the job done. Tired of the excuses and tired of blowing leads. Either get it done, or get the hell out of the way! |

We're 10 games into the Sheldon Keefe era and we're just now getting the roster in order.

Man, the season isn't quite even half over. Let's wait and actually see what happens before we judge anything. |

You can lose some of the whiplash effect with a stronger neck, so on a hit that might not outright give you a major concussion, that whip of the neck can cause it to be major adding to the effect. It could be the difference between a major and minor concussion, but not going to necessarily outright stop you from having one I think is what he was getting at. So a minor hit, MIGHT avoid a minor concussion here or there even. Not all the time and depends on the impact and hit taken really but...

Oh we also need to remember too we have exceeded where we thought we were going to be, we were running before walking totally there. And I think that also is telling because means we have the talent to succeed. Overall I think we will struggle some this year but likely get things together more next. Dubas is putting his stamp on the team but also it isnt a complete done work here by any stretch of the imagination too. |

No just knowing such is the case. I want them to win too but really, everyone was losing their minds all offseason and just amped it right up. Had to know we were due for a step back here at some point. History told us it was coming there. I mean damn. |

It reminds me of the year Tampa got Hedman 3rd overall. They were not expected to be such a bad team with Stamkos and the other guys, yet they were.
I don't think the leafs will be that bad but sometimes it takes longer than 3 months. People here don't like to admit it all the time but plenty of them fall for the poop the media spews. To be fair, I've done it before and will again. It's difficult to keep away from the negative when it's so constant in this city.
Look at st.louis and colorado. They are real contenders and it took some failing for it to happen with their cores.
We can also point to Tampa. Everyone here is giving them the benefit of the doubt but they got swept in round 1 last year and haven't really been in the top 3 spots of the division like at all this year. They are also running out of time. |

Hedman went 2nd (behind Snakes) in 2009. I think you’re thinking of Drouin.
Tampa from 2011 to 2019:
- 2011: Conference Finals
- 2013: 28th in the league
- 2015: Stanley Cup Finals
- 2017: missed playoffs
- 2019: tied wins record/swept in first round
Conclusion: fire Dubas because reasons. |

Exactly. Media drives a lot of it and the fanbase is rather vocal and large, but also quite toxic at times. Only place that eats its own and far worse is Montreal... but Leafs have always had bad defence, that has never changed. We've always utterly outright relied on our goalies to bail us out all the time, Palmeteer, Bester, Wregget, Furh, Cujo, Belfour... etc etc.
Lets face it this is the best this franchise has been and it has taken a few years to get to this point. It wasn't supposed to be that fast a turn around. We still aren't done yet. It will come but holy crap people want it NOW.
Think we can all be guilty of being impatient some. That said I think many cant temper expectations and see how it will go long term. I mean think of Edmonton those great cup teams... yet they had a few years of getting utterly schooled despite all that talent by the other teams before they rose up to a dynasty.
