Really like what I’ve seen from dube, 5 pts in 9 games on the season and making it hard to move him down the lineup once Bennett/czarnik return |

So when Benny and Czarnik are back. Janko and Frolik sit. Trade them already. Don’t really care what we get back. |

I didn't think that Makar was going to be fit for duty tonight. That change? |

No Makar, Wilson or Johnson at the morning skate. Guessing they’re all out tonight. |

I've been saying it all year, Dube is a player and deserves all the opportunity he's getting. Like to see him moved up with monahan and Johnny when Bennett returns and play Backlund as our 3rd line center with Benny and Czarnik. Bring up philips to play with Ryan and Looch |

I believe that both Bennett and Czarnik were listed on the LTIR and that that's what allowed management to be able to call up Dube and Rinaldo. Obviously, when one of them is ready to come back, then Rinaldo is the first to be sent down to Stockton.
As far as Bennett is concerned, I would really like to see how he does under Ward before we deal him away. Sure, he won't live up to draft expectations, but there's no reason to believe that he is incapable of improving his skill enough to be an effective top-six forward.
That said, I hope that management finds a way to keep Dube in the lineup.
I'm hopeful that the Flames have a solid team effort, start to finish, in tonight's game against the Avs. |

Nice bounce back since the poopshow. I bet guys are relieved to get back to just hockey.
I'll be curious if they can sustain this or if it's just that extra bump that usually happens for the first handful of games when a team switches coaches. |

I'm curious - where do you see Mangiapane - on the second line, presumably with Tkachuk and Lindholm. And then Bennett on the third line with Backlund and Frolik?
I'm just extrapolating, based on what you had offered. |

LA has gotta be thinking full rebuild.
What would it take to get Kopitar (10 million/year till 2023-24)?
Monahan and Brodie might get it done cash wise just for Kopitar add in picks/prospects where necesary. Brodie can be flipped at TDL or they can hold onto him as LA does not spend a lot of money on defence besides Dowdy. Monahan is a serviceable 1C for a rebuilding team on a cheap contract. Kopitar has a lot more years left at 10 million so I cannot see a lot of teams wanting to take him on. By the time he is in steady decline we will be in rebuild mode.
We need at 1C and Kopitar would fill that void.
Edit #10:
Why not try and add Toffoli and make a run. I am not a GM but you gotta think that Tre needs to make a gamble at some point.
Tkachuk-Kopitar-Dube/Mange
JG-Lindholm-Toffoli
Looch-Ryan-Dube/Mange
Czarnik-Rinaldo-Gawdin
I somehow traded Bennett, our first, (maybe Phillips if necesary) and Frolik for an extended Toffoli. Then I traded Backlund for a pick and a serviceable 3D to play with Kylington.
This is a team that has a lot more Grit and has a scoring threat on each line. |

Dube is a vast improvement over Bennett. Not much opportunity left for Janko and Frolik. |

Kopitar to old and that’s too much to give up money has averaged 29 goals a year he’s not allowed to have a off season ? |

Monahan can have an off season but he does not do well lining up against the McDavids and McKinnons. |

Anze Kopitar is 32 years old and has only managed one 30 goal season in the last decade.
Stay away from that. |

Kopitar was the best center on the ice Saturday night scoring a beauty and literally dominating in the dot. That said with 4 x 10 million left after this year the economics simply dont work with him. He also has a full NMC and loves the Cali life.
Toffoli would be interesting if we could send Frolik and an asset back. |

I have to say, the nonsense that Bill Peters was let go for is becoming clear to be nothin but a blessing under disguise...not only am I impressed with Ward on our record since captaining the ship but having the balls to shake up all the lines since joining...And when he explained the reasonings for each line change he(and coaching staff) put together, it definitely made sense to me and I’m not surprised one bit we’ve gotten the solid performances from all lines since doing so...But with that said the only head scratcher I have for tonight’s lineup is why in hell is Janks back in the line up instead of Rhino??? I know some of you guys seem to wanna thrash on Rhino but I don’t know if I’m the only one here that thinks this but ever since the start of training camp I really liked how he not only brought energy to the fourth line but I thought he’s actually pretty frickin fast with some decent hands for the net...And I really do feel that if given a handful of back to back games, he could even surpass what Hathaway brought to the table... Anyway’s I really hope the Flames can throw down the best showing of the year tonight and come out of there with a well deserved win because that’ll take them to a whole’notha level of confidence and swagger that they’ve already started to create for themselves...

Your Selke guys like Bergeron, Oreilly, and the idea is a guy like Kopitar.
Agreed he has shown down but if our window is the next couple years I cannot see any other 1C around. |
|
|
|
Janko at 1,675 is good value centering the 4th line and anchoring a PK unit. He's worth more to the Flames on the ice than what he would bring in a trade (maybe a 3rd rounder?). He'll never make more than that on his new contract. Keep him. |

Maybe that's why Backlund is playing with him right now. Hopefully Mony can pick up a few things. |

The Lucic-Ryan-Dube line has been fantastic though, I don't know that I'd want to split that up right now. I agree Dube has stepped up his game immensely, but why fix what isn't broken?
I agree that once Czarnik and Vennett are back Frolik and Jankowski are as good as gone, I just don't know that I'd touch that 3rd line at the moment. |
