The Avs make the most sense. Plenty of assets, team is definitely making the playoffs and they are set for the present and the future. They can make a trade involving some pretty nice assets without impacting the future or the present team too much.
Habs make much less sense. The future looks bright, but the present is very murky. Trading for Hall might get them to the playoffs, but the assets used to get him makes the future much less bright.
I'm sure Hall would recognize this as well. I'd sign with team A. |

The deal probably falls through if the Devils ask for Byram or Newhook. The most likely package would probably look something like:
Jost
Timmins
2020 1st
(MAYBE) Kaut - Depends on other teams bids

The Avs have a good thing going with great chemistry and finally getting healthy. Hall is not needed (although it would be exciting to have him). He's a first line forward. Why disrupt the room? Pass |

If any team is even considering paying NJ's price for Hall, an extension will be a given. |

As an Avs fan, hard pass. Avs have great chemistry in the top 6 now. And it's nice having cap space instead of knowing the second a decent player needs a new deal all the depth has to be traded to make room. |

Don't think that Hall would really fit in as a Hab. It's a gut feeling I have after having followed the team for over 50 years. Bergevin needs to shore up on defence first and then go for a bigger forward with some skill. The team doesn't really need a star player like TH, but someone who's just shy of a grinder and can get the puck to the scorers on the squad. |

Please Bergevin don't trade Caufield............ |

I think the only player the Habs have is Primeau, and a first and possibly one of their forwards to satisfy Jersey....doubt they can pull it off. |

Colorado will get him as a rental. Pay a steep price for him. If they win the Cup he’ll resign there. If not , he”lol sign a ridiculously overpriced 7 year deal with with Philly and be bought out in four years. |

This is a likely desired outcome of whatever team signs him. Why do teams still offer contracts taking players into their mid 30s at big dollars??? |

No doubt. That would be disgusting watching them light it up. |

I think it’s more realistic for any deal to include an additional asset if Hall resigns with a Club after this season but not likely he’d negotiate a long term deal with a team he had no history with.
Short story long is the Devils are asking for a ton but will have to temper expectations at some point soon. |

I suppose some teams feel that they’re close, and are willing to mortgage the future to take a swing now.
Others are willing to pay that price if they need to sell tickets and everything that comes with that (parking, food, beer, club boxes, etc). Jerseys to a smaller extent. It’s marketing for a franchise that needs a boost.
But as for a winning strategy, yeah, big risk. |

Because the top free agents aren't signing with the team offering them 4 years when someone will want that player enough to go 7 or 8 years.
It use to be a 4 year deal was considered a long term contract. 5 was very rare and your very good players got 3. Now every high end player gets 7 or 8. While this is great stuff for making players rich it is bad for the franchises and the fans. |

Kotkaniemi, Suzuki, Poehling, Domi, 2021 first, Brooks. They have the pieces, the question is why would they buy in the present situation they are in? Makes zero sense.
And Primeau doesn't make much sense for NJ and Blackwood... |

HARD PASS. Timmins would have to be the bare minimum prospect involved in a trade. |

Avs make perfect sense. Hall would fit in with a group of already very quick forward. Not sure the Avs deal Byram for a rental though. It would end up being guys like Jost, Kaut or Timmins plus picks |
