Good write-up, Ben. A year ago the discussion here was often about bringing in a big-name talent to bolster the team with Beau usually mentioned as trade bait. Now he's playing so well and so consistently, that I agree with you........he's looking like a core player to build the team around. I cannot imagine including him in any trades.

No question Beauvillier has been great. He's been playing a solid two way game and has great hustle.

😂

Johnston was actually not completely terrible but I would think you have to ultimately go with scoring to hope to consistently win games. With that said the Stars are a big team so he may stick it with it...

Physical team he didnt want liberties taken with barzal. Ross shouldnt be on that line but he has decent speed can go to the front and doesnt need to handle the puck because barzal has it. That said let's hope he isnt there again

Not only was Johnston not completely terrible, but Ryan Reaves was kept under control. I always worry about a guy like Reaves or Tom Wilson seriously injuring Barzal or another good young Islander player. I don't remember whether Dallas has any players like that, but, if they do, then I would be inclined to play Johnston.

Point being he may be there tonight for the reasons I pointed out.

I believe everyone is worried about that just not sure how much of a deterrent having Johnston on the first line is? The Stars are a big physical team that’s the problem we have matching up with them. That’s why I’m leaning towards Trotz keeping Johnston where he is.

I guess the point of playing him on Barzal's line is that he's right there if someone runs Barzal. Playing him on a different line means he has to try to catch up with the offender later in the game, if the offender hasn't already been tossed.

Having said that, I would probably opt for a bigger offensive threat on the first line than Johnston.

I also think believing Nelson’s play is most likely unsustainable is a bit off. Why would anyone think that? He’s 28 contract takes him till he’s 33 expecting 50-55 for at least most of that contract is not too crazy imo.

Yeah of course as would I unfortunately that player doesn’t exist for us. Like I said I’m not complaining about Johnston playing on the first line just wondering if he’s on it again tonight for the reasons I pointed out. The good thing with Trotz is if it’s not working he’ll change it up in game rather than beating a dead horse.

Nelson and Beau have been great. I don’t see why they can’t continue to play the way they are. I think they have found great chemistry and it’s helped both their games.

Moose Knuckle was sent down to Bridgeport on a conditioning stint. I know you've been busy, but do try to keep up.
