I second this. Put Batman and Robin back together again. Prosper. And I think Reinhart is the playmaker that would get Casey rolling.

I think Mittelsh!ts will amount to jack squat.

Taylor Hall is great.

He's also not better than Stone or Kalrsson, neither of which got a player of Byram's caliber back.

Vegas didn't give up Cody Glass for Stone, despite even extending him right after the trade.

There's just a sub zero% chance they move Byram for a 28 year old straight up, let alone in a package

- sbroads24

Im not saying they will but those are the pieces Ray will be spending his time trying to get and its pretty arguable that Stone is better then Hall.

How many pts does Stone have on what you would absolutely consider a superior team? I think they are pretty even and it would depend on preference.

I also dont think Glass is miles better a prospect the Brannstrom so its not like they didnt give up a blue chip piece they just had 3 of them. ( Glass, Suzukie and Brannstrom )

Also if Sakic can find a way to extend him he would be foolish to not consider it considering how unpredictable defense man are in their development. They already have a fore sure in Makar it would allow them to take a risk that Bryam doesnt reach his potential. As it seems to me multiple defenders drafted 3rd overall or later have gone on to be meh.

They'll spend every second up to the deadline trying to sign him. He'll say he wants to be a UFA. Agents will call asking if he'd be interested in signing with team x. He'll agree to one of those deals around 2 pm day of. The Devils will get a mid-late first, a well regarded prospect, and either a 2nd or another decent roster player.

Mark it down.

I'll put this in the " Sam's getting paid 86 million a day" file

Too much skill to say that. Downside is a top 6 winger.

When Reinhart ends up a winger and Mitts can't even come close to handling 2C duties, the winger you signed doesn't belong there either, so your cornerstone 2C stumbles into position

We should look at next months schedule to see when Skinner will have another good game

Trade Reinhart? One of our two good wingers? Makes no sense to me. We need more good forwards, not fewer

we've been over this, when your team struggles to score you must remove the players who score from the team

He has not played well at all. Folks who say he has are most likely Bott fans who won’t criticize anything he’s done.

Pastaboy signed in 2017, he was not Arb elligible. Not much leverage.
If you don't think Arbitration has an impact, recall back 3-1/2 months ago for Erod's case.
$2m for nothing...a 4th line C.

Sam is Arb elligible in 2020, 3 years after Pasta's signing.
That gives him real leverage.
Consider last year's RFA signings, that gives him leverage.
Nylander is a good starting point, it isn't going lower. That gives him leverage.
Sam is going to get paid

Now, let's get this out of the way before Boss misrepresents what I say, again...
I don't want to pay Sam that much, I too would want to pay him less.
But we don't live in a fantasy land, it is reality. The projection is $7.0m or more.

- IonSabres

Excellent point. I don't want the Sabres tying up that much money in him.

I'm a Botts fan but will criticize the poop out of that pick until he plays better or is traded. And then I'll beat that dead horse like the rest of the dumb (frank)s here until he dies or becomes irrelevant.

Or I wont.
I'm fine either way.

Comparable deal would be what Karlsson or Mark Stone got last year.

A/B+ prospect
1st rounder
decent roster player

There's no way IMO you get a potential franchise D man who couldv'e went top 2 for a rental.

- sbroads24

He would need to be a miracle worker magician to get Byram for Hall. I cannot see that happening. I'm not sure how much they are going to get for Hall regarding top end talent.

No interest in trading him in-season. It's when it's time to sign him long-term that it shouldn't be a slam dunk.

I stuck up for him.

He seems like he gets a chance to score while shorthanded every game now. That's a nice weapon to have.

There are not really scoring wingers in the system who are coming soon, unless you think Cozens isn't a center.

Who's replacing him at wing? Trading him for a different winger seems pointless. The whole thing makes no sense to me. We might finally have a 3rd good winger in Olofsson and people want to remove one?

Nice attempt at talking yourself into it being a real possibility they can get Byram for Hall, who then has to be signed long term at big dollars. It's not happening.

You would definitely have to get creative in order to pull it off. I'm not disputing that, but the way this cap system works, you can tie up about 5 players long-term without drowning. I just don't think a core of Eichel, Skinner, Dahlin, Reinhart and the 5th (probably a defenseman, Jokiharju?) ever gets you a championship. They need to upgrade somewhere.
