Hutch needs to be better. Not sure the nhl is for him. He needed to make an extra save or two.
But the team doesnt play well defensively in front of him. No arguing that, but he needs to make a save during crucial times.

Also, the argument how come one goalie can save a willie shot but the other couldn't save an eichel shot is facking assinine.

If the players completely embarrasse themselves prior, yes.
Babs needed to be moved out.
But players share a big part of the blame

What was the velocity on Nylanders shot compared to Eichels? Not even close.

Again, no one is saying Hutch is good. But you guys jump through hoops trying to deny how garbage this team is defensively. It's hilarious.

Because Willy is on the same level as Eichel. You know, like when Eichel strong armed Muzzin like his female dog and set up a goal. Willy does that stuff all the time.

So is the implication that these guys having not changed at 22-23 means the book is closed and they're a waste?

Alright. I'll admit, I've never been the type to have the patience for this halfway max / UG bs shtick where we preach ridiculous things as fact and when the entire world questions them on it we talk down to them like the rest of the world is to thick to understand. So I'm just gonna excuse myself.

Good chat.

- joel878

No. The implication is they are what they are now. I don't watch the Leafs like they are a faith based religion and I'm hoping for them to change someday. I critique them on what they are.

Leafs should trade for Johnson, because 90% of his salary cap hit would be retained by his parents.

I never once said the Leafs played well defensively.

I did say Hutch sucked and heavily contributed to the loss.

- Santo_44

You freaked out because I mentioned the brutal giveaway as an example of their crappy defence because it was you're Jesus Matthews who made the mistake so you had to blame Hutch for the loss and said he should have saved a redirected shot. All to remove blame from Jesus Matthews giveaway for the winning goal.

It’s a waste of your time. Some of these guys only watch the game to look for Matthews mistakes.

Awwww did we hurt your feelings by correctly pointing out Matthews' glaring errors and lack of effort.

The first goal Leafs give it away at their own blue line and was a wide open shot from the slot. Prime scoring area, Leafs backed in almost to their own net and waved their sticks around while allowing a 40 goal scorer to walk right in.

Second goal Leafs get caught pinching and give Buff 3 on 1. Eichel, another guy who sucks at shooting wires one from the same area, high slot. No chance.

3rd goal, weak coverage in front and a point shot is redirected 2 feet down. No chance.

4th goal. Muzzin gets beat and Eichel steals the puck. Leafs get caught running around, Eiche feeds Olofsson. Once again, wide open, high slot, tonnes of time. And he wires one. Another guy who sucks at shooting while on pace to score 30.

5th goal. Matthews just hands it to Vesey in front and he dekes out Hutch unchallenged.

6th, EN.

Hutch turned the puck over 'cause he's atrocious with the puck.

I think Hutch is 0-The Season, on those kinds of goals. It's his job to save some of those.

Where the (frank) is Hutch going? Stay in the net and it doesn't go in.

Hutch played dodgeball. Worst glove hand maybe ever.

Bad turnover for sure but that's the biggest 5 hole you'll ever see.

Especially against an Avs lineup that already has Rantanen back & might have Landeskog too. Could get ugly.

This isn't about whether Matthews is good and Hutch is bad. I said it hasn't been Hutch's fault in the losses as poor plays in their end were major factors.

And then you ran to defend Matthews. As usual. Because he gets a free pas on his mistakes despite being the seconds highest paid player in the NHL. Hutch doesn't in your mind, but Dubas also gets a pass despite this being the backup he selected.

How Matthews been on the road the year?

- aminnes

Don't worry we only have 4 more years left of him after this ... unless Dubas wises up and trades his ass in year 4 of that contract.

funny.

Ullmark stopped a shot like that in the final seconds of the 1st.

Maybe because he gave himself a chance by not flopping to one side of the net and overcomitting to the shot.

Hutch had a chance he just didn't give himself one.

Edit: and no chance on the Echiel goal? Damn, another 1st period stop Ullmark made on Nylander. Why does Ullmark have chances on these plays?

- Santo_44

Hutchinson and Matthews were both horrible that game, no question.
Hutchinson has to make at least 2 saves on those goals, and Matthews just needed to wake the (frank) up.

That was his career highlight. Who knew it would go downhill from there.

Oh wait, as a long-suffering Leafs fan, I knew

Hutch didn't lose the game. The team did.
- aminnes

While that may be true, you can't ignore the overall numbers.

Hutch and Freddie play with the same team in front of them.

Freddie: 13-5-3, .921, 2.47
Hutch: 0-5-1, .876, .455

He can't play in the NHL, and he is the reason we will miss the playoffs.

The numbers don't lie.
