Certainly hear you on Mike Smith, but...As well as Koskinen has played, I worry he will start to falter with more action..He may be at his best with limited play. |

Good to see James Neal is back to being James Neal. His November was arguably worse than any one month he had last year. Minus 11 in a month? Yikes. |

I’ve talked a lot of sh1t about koskinen
And I still think that contract after 30 games was ridiculous.
But dude. He looks dialed. So solid right now |

He’s better than Smith, that’s for certain. I’m curious to see how he performs if Smith is out for any length. |

The split is working for him, so yeah that’s concerning giving him more
But I mean, regardless of smith injury, we gotta go at least 2 or 3 to 1.
He’s far better right now |

Sure, Smith has had a couple of rough games, but credit has to be given to him for bouncing back after poor starts. He wasn't my "ideal" choice to be in a tandem/backup role, but seems to have fit not too badly into the role.
5 on 5 numbers will look bad until the bottom six improves upon their poor start. In the last few games the secondary scoring has started to pick up, not as fast as most would like, but there is something that is resembling potential production. (Russell should've had his first goal tonight too, but a 50/50 call went the other way. Markstrom likely wouldn't have made that save, even if he wasn't "interfered with")
I believe Tippett had a plan to play the rotation until Smith got hurt or Koskinen faltered, well it looks like the earlier is the case. Starting Koskinen in 3-4 games in a row likely won't be a slump starter. He has improved on his positional play (not letting in as many short side shots from along the boards/ bad angles) and isn't swimming around the crease as much as he's swallowing most shots up now, instead of letting bad rebounds. Not to mention most nights the team is playing more structured in front of him limiting the high quality chances.
There are no easy wins, but some "winnable" games are coming up, the question is how does the team play in front of their goalie. |

If there is anything Holland should improve upon via trade, it's finding better pieces to fit within that bottom 6 to improve depth and provide us with options. If we can trade for specifically middle 6 players, I think that would definitely help with versatility and secondary scoring for now.
Methinks the cost for a top 6 winger (which we need the most) rn is too high. |

The price will probably start dropping after the New Year. Guys like Gusev might become affordable. |
