Hart with an off night.
The black holes on this team continue to be just that.
Giroux wasn't a problem but wasn't a solution and that simply isn't good enough for him.
Frost goal was ridiculous and he actually had a few other plays I loved.
Thursday becomes the next huge game as this streak could really snowball into disaster. |

Thursday will be a good test if the coaching and player changes have done anything for this team. They were playing good for a while, then started to just play ok and get ties. In the past they would take these OTL’s and follow them up with a losing streak. They need a rebound and a couple game winning streak to convince me the core leadership outside of Couts doesn’t need a change. Ahem Voracek, Ghost, and maybe Giroux. |

14.1 million tied up in a checking center and a one dimension wing who can’t even do the one thing he’s supposedly good at.

More stars? How about a star? Giroux is barely even ranked in the top 30 players in the league by most people these days.

Think they had mentioned that Niskanen is banged up and a game time decision the last few games. He certainly looked very up and down in play last night so makes sense if he has a minor injury.
Myers and Sanheim had a better night. Frost was fun to watch.

I dont expect JVR or Jake to be with this team for very much longer....IMO there will be a shakeup move or two as Im sure ownership is losing patience. Even if they have to take pennies on the dollar, my gut says they are going to do it. |

I don't think JVR will be that tough a move. His numbers have been very consistent over the years. Obviously they're down this year but the same can be said for pretty much everyone on this team.
They can probably get Seattle to take Jake by sweetening the pot with something. Otherwise I don't see how he's moved. |

I said I'd wait to 20 games before making any judgements. Here we are and as you mention I am also concerned about the leadership group. G jake ghost Hayes and jvr need to get it going or something will need to be done. Scratch, or eventually some sort of trade whereby we take another underachieving vet if it can be done.
I'd heard that the players didn't like hak, so fine he's gone. Now they're not playing for av. It's unacceptable for these supposed talented vets to be anchors on the team.
Great game by frost and I still old what Myers is bringing. Yeah. I know he can't be taking a 4 min cross check to the face but don't back down and show some (frank)ing emotion. This team has played like zombies for years with zero fight back. Even if he has his off games here and there, don't scratch him. Let him work through it. |

Realistically, if this doesn't get sorted out with the vets, it will probably be in the offseason that we try to jettison some of the vets but teams that take them will prob want picks etc to take a jake. The core chemistry is the next change to be made. |

15-3-1 against the Flyers in his career. Double whammy, first you trade him for a bag of pucks and a used jock strap, then he owns your face. |

Yep. The Flyers were given the choice of trading him for the best package they could get or letting him leave for Russia with no compensation.
Clearly, they made the wrong choice. |

I didn’t see this coming but great first game by Frost. The problem? There is no way a first game rookie should outplay his Captain on the same line. Frost and Konecny were miles ahead of Giroux. |

Haven't you heard? Giroux has a newborn at home. He's not getting enough shuteye. |
