He said from the very beginning that he was prepared to play the entire season in Finland. But what else is he supposed to say. "Yeah I'm just here until my trade demands are met. As soon as that happens I'll be abandoning all my teammates here and heading back to the big money of the NHL". Sorry but this isn't really news.

At least this time the December 1st deadline is correct. A while ago your sources were talking about a December 31st deadline. That was awkward.

A few NHL teams feel that this could change and believe this is more along the lines of Edmonton and Ken Holland trying to get as much as possible for Puljujarvi. One source feels that Edmonton could be close to a possible deal, but to get the most out of their asset it benefits Holland that teams think he doesn't need to make a deal this year.

This doesn't make sense to me. If there's a chance that he'll stay in Finland, teams are liable to be dissuaded from making good offers, if any offers at all. That hardly benefits Holland. It seems more like shooting himself in the foot.

Most players would rather play the year in Siberia than return to Edmonton.

Or if he has a good season, this could salvage what's left of his value. I say he's betting on himself.

It's not his choice where he goes, he has no say in who holds his NHL rights.

Teams are interested. This is a tactic by his Manager and Holland to bump the price a little. If a deal comes through he will be back in a flash.

"Trade us something valuable for a guy you won't see for almost a year and isn't afraid to stay in Finland" probably isn't the best tactic to raise the price for a player you're trying to sell

That is if you believe that is the case. Carolina comes through with what Holland wants... a phone call to Puljujarvi's manager and Jesse is leaving Finland. $$$.

Holland is in a pretty bad spot for Puljujarvi but he has the right idea waiting until he gets a reasonable offer.

People called Sakic crazy when he decided to hold onto Duchene for so long and it paid off big time in the end.

Yeah but Duchene never had troubling cracking the roster of a bad team and had actually produced at the NHL level.

By the way, the actual quote from Puljujarvi is totally misunderstood.

"Jesse, the deadline to return to the NHL is rapidly approaching. What do you think about this? When do you expect to return to the NHL? Would you return to the Oilers? Ken Holland recently met with you right?"

He was getting badgered by the media. So his response was:

"I am 100% focussed on playing in Finland and having a great season here".

Just because he is 100% focussed on his current team does not mean he is 100% ruling out a return to the NHL. He issued a simple statement to squash further questions.

Otherwise this was a solid piece of old news.

Never really cared for Cherry but the PC cancel culture is ridiculous. Maybe if he was with Trudeau at that party in blackface he would have gotten a pass.

I hope they hire Milbury for the open position so we never have to see that lumpy-faced, $10 haircut maggot on American TV again
