Good analysis Todd. The Flames are slowly starting to play better hockey more consistently. Hopefully this is a trend in the right direction. We need Kylington back playing minutes IMO, and Brodie playing as little as possible (I'd love to see Brodie traded for almost anything if Davidson is ready or to get back someone better than Stone to play with Kylington, because I think getting rid of him would actually help the Flames). He's been downright awful almost every game, and hurts the Flames whenever he's out there.
Other than that, I'd like to see more from Bennett and Monahan on a more consistent basis. Jankowski, Lucic, and Reider/Czarnik should be the 4th Line. Bennett, Ryan, Frolik as the 3rd. Mangiapane deserves to stay up on the 2nd line for sure.
Mangiapane, Lindholm, Andersson, Rittich have been playing great. Tkachuk in brilliant flashes. Hopefully they can start beating some of the top teams in the West and surge up the standings.

Why Bennett with Monahan? Nothing against the kid but he's not suited for a more offensive role. People are upset with Monahan for his perceived lack of production and playing him with Bennett is just going to bring his production down to what people are perceiving. Bennett is fine on the 3rd line with Ryan and Quine or whomever is on the other wing. Let the 1st line sort things out as they are.

GFG! - quinneroma there has been something wrong with brody for a few years now! He hurts the team on a nightly basis. He is either shooting the puck right at a guy (even on a dump in,)or not holding the line doing a bad pinch or pinching when gio Is already pinching. Or can’t get the puck out of our own zone when it is an easy out.… goes on and on. If valamaki didn’t get hurt in the summer. (And that is a concern. The kid seems to be injury pron). Brody would definitely be gone. But if you can’t really replace him ! hard to get rid of him. Kylington reminds me of Brody 4 years ago.

Agreed, plus Brodie loses every physical battle he's in. The other guy almost always comes away with the puck. |

Todd,
Mangiapane is the steal of the year for 775K. The "Butter Line" (Monahan Line)..... anytime you apply heat to them they melt, not quite worth the collective 19 million. |

Lol 50 points between the three of them starting this season isn’t quite worth 19 million collectively. |

Mang has played good but lets pump the brakes a bit he has 7 points in 18 games.
Extrapolates to 34 points. |

Which is 3x last year's total ! He's looked good and I love that he skates right into the tough areas and has no problem paying the price. I think he could get 40-50 pts if he's put in the right position. |

Jesus, nice hit. I was expecting to find Phillips getting laid out but he smoked that guy ! He'll remember that game for a long time. |

If Dube isn't quite ready for a callup then I wouldn't mind seeing Phillips for a game or 2.
Rieder & Quine have been fine at times, but neither has done anything to cement themselves in the lineup.
Johnny Lindholm Mangiapane
Tkachuk Monahan Czarnik
Bennett Backlund Dube
Lucic Ryan Phillips/Frolik
I'd eventually like to see a more balanced lineup. I don't like seeing Johnny and Tkachuk together (they are easily the two best playmakers on the team--share the wealth).
Pair Monahan with Tkachuk--force him into the fight every night and I think we will like the results. *BP would most likely cycle RW's on that top line.
...We need to make a trade, I don't think that dressing room is in good shape after multiple players were involved in trades that fell through (Frolik, Janko, Brodie). |

Like that lineup, except if your calling up skilled players let's put them both in the top 9
Watched both Phillips and Dube in the dub for years, they're both talented players. Kirkland was also a good Rocket, good to see him getting some points. Was always a gritty player.
I agree time to move out some dead weight. The kids are all right. |

Got to give some credit to St. Louis tho. Tenacious forecheck. Wish a few more of our players would do that. |
