Nils Höglander has 2 goals and 1 primary assist in the first 2 periods. You're welcome, #Canucks

W Nils Höglander (VAN) could create a show where he just ridicules goalies in penalty shots and people would pay to see it. |

Burkie brought up a very interesting comment 2 days ago. Who the hell are going to trade for these players you want to move. There are only 8 teams that can afford his 3.3 mil cap hit. Most of those teams are bottom feeders and have a full roster of Svens. Pretty much the same reason as Brodie in CGY most teams can't afford them or don't want them.
Sven is pretty well assigned to Canucks or Comets and he is more useful there. We have many third liners as someone else pointed out earlier. - VANTEL
There are some teams at the bottom of the table in terms of goals scored – CBJ, Chicago, NJ, Dallas, Ottawa, Minni – that either have larger aspirations or want to insulate youth. If you park Sven on Bo's line for a solid chunk of games, and he scores at a respectable rate, I can see some teams inquiring about him. There are a lot of if's involved, of course, and to make it work either take back a contract or shift things around, but I'm just saying there are options.
And, checking CapFriendly, there are 17 teams that can take 3.3 right now, even without sending a body back. |

If you use current cap space there is 17 including the teams using LTIR. 8 teams with projected cap space.
I don't think there is a demand to take on a player with an injury prone contract with term of a 3.3 mil player who would need to have a very good year to score 12 goals. Just my opinion. I could be wrong. |

Three assists for Jack Rathbone last night. The sophomore defender is hot out of the gate with 5 points in 2 NCAA games on the season.
This will make DCT happy. I heard someone say earlier don't be surprised if at the end of the yer he sees some time with Canucks. |

Tippet hockey works for awhile, he is an old school coach. Why wasn't he hired before the coilers hired him? - Bettmanhatesus
Every team that Tippett has taken over have made the playoffs that year. Dallas, Arizona...Oilers are no different. If they stick to Tippett's system...they will make it in the PO's. |

I wonder if it will take long to pass OJ on the depth charts ? I really like what Canucks have on the back end on the pro level and the amateur level.

No idea about depth chart timing, but I think Rathbone is the 2nd pairing LD of the future. OJ becomes an absolute luxury as a 3rd pairing LD & PP2 QB (or trade chip because we’re getting to the point where we can trade excess for need - RD/2C). |

Currently Canucks are thinking Myers and Hughes long term so anything can happen.
We are getting close to changing out some parts. Edler and Benn are short term. I don't think Stecher will be here next year and I am not sure about Tanev.

Ristolainen is a big solid boy. I still would like to find a way to acquire him. |

We'd have to take back two bad contracts if moving them? - LordHumungous
To improve upon them, you will need to take on probably a longer and more expensive contracts.
If you add Suter 5 more years at 7.5
Doughty has 7 years at 11.
Edler and Tanev have pretty good contracts for a reason. |

So they need a first pairing RHD and a second pairing LHD with size. Cale Makar and Dmitri Orlov probably the only first pairing defenders that are below 6' that could play without a legit #1 D on the other side.
Probably would need a Pietroangelo, Doughty, Weber to make Hughes not a first pairing liability. |

Sell high on OJ. Even if it brings back someone that is flounder a bit in another system.
Tolvanen?
Evgeny Svechnikov? He was physical when he played against Van with a heavy shot. |

As a pairing?
(frank) I hope not. |

Pietroangelo is one that gets me asking should I? He is 29 and will want a 7 year contract so my answer would lean towards no. Very tempting though.
As I mentioned I would like a Ristolainen Myers Rafferty Tryamkin RH side for Canucks |

Pietro I guess it would come down to if they feel he is a missing piece to Vancouver winning the cup.
Prospect pipeline is pretty steady right now, should soon start to see a few good ELC players coming up. |

IMO, and I know this sounds crazy, 🌲 has the best game of those options to be a Hughes partner. Myers doesn’t. Risto doesn’t (although he’d be dynamite with Rathbone). Rafferty doesn’t. |

The top drafted CHL player last year went 3rd overall and had 1.17 Pts/GP.
There are 14 CHL first time eligibles on that pace for 2020, and one is a defenseman.
Alexis Lafrenière has reached 59.9% of Kirby Dach's production in 27.4% of the games played.

I agree about tree and funny enough so does he. His agent said at the beginning of the year can you imagine Nikita protecting Quinn for the next few years.
Tree is a good passer and is reliable in his own end.

It was overrated. We got a bust at 10 but it’s not like many players picked after bustkolzin are playing great |
