There have been numerous articles about how their numbers at 5 on 5 are just incredible.

Look it up.

Edit: If you are subscribed to TheAthletic, I can send you the link.

I do,

You know far too much about hockey to truly believe that this line is in the top five in the NHL, qualifying it as 5X5 is meaningless

Some examples say 11 off the top of my head that are better.

Kucherov/Point
Bergeron/Patrnak
Ovechkin/Backstrom
Tkachuk/Gaudreau
McDavid/Draisaitl
Wheeler/Scheifele
Pettersson/Boeser
Crosby/Guentzel
Matthews/Nylander
Tavares/Marner
Eichel/Skinner

there are several others, if you go by NHL.com the Gallagher line is the 30th best in the NHL - I would think even that is generous. Think about it, what team doesn't have a centre better than Danault?

What's the difference between "loaning" a player vs. waiving a player?
Aren't they the same thing?

- zazzle

Pretty sure its the same thing.

Loaning sounds nicer I guess

As a fan, throwing away, or free to a good home sounds better and certainly more final

I'm only talking about 5 on 5 play, not points total obviously. Hell Danault doesn't even play on the powerplay.

I know it's hard to believe, but the Tatar-Danault-Gallagher line has been incredible in the last year. They can shutdown the other top lines while producing at a decent pace.

They are clearly, the most underrated line in hockey right now if you ask me.

Look how they compare to Mackinnon's line.

MacKinnon’s line scored 6 more goals, but they controlled fewer shots, high danger shots, high danger goals and had a lower expected goals for percentage. Not to mention they allowed nine more goals.

when talking about lines vs lines production and whatnot, using 5v5 is the only thing that makes sense.

compare them on the same(ish) level.

Sorry until Nylander is gone we aren't allowed to bring numbers like that around here. They don't count.

this surprises me somewhat

I assume its a pretty small sample with JT included.
hopefully the PP gets back to being lethal

Yup. One of the reasons I had the Habs in 3rd this year. Scoring is great, but so much about winning is playing as a unit and preventing the other team from doing what they want to do. Point stats are fun and all but...

Not sure how Boston isn't #1.

Half their goals this year seem to be on the PP, it's crazy how good it is.

It's because Boston gets 15 powerplay chances a game.. It's a league rule apparently.

Zach makes 2.25, why would they need to open up $600,000 Mike?
After his salary and Dermotts salary and JT's salary are pro-rated from LTIR they are fine.

The Bruins have 51 PP opportunities so far this year, good for 17th in the NHL.

The Canucks have the most at 64.

I don't think JT was ever on the LTIR. He would've had to have missed the 4 games this week for them to have retroactively used LTIR

It'd be interesting to see what the game scores are/were when the PPs were given.

Yeah. I could be wrong but i thought i read if he missed all this week they would've had 1.4 mil (ish) wiggle room.
