I’ve said all I’ve needed to say on this subject several times. I like the player, I don’t like the term. I really hope I’m wrong and he’s worth every penny and produces deep into the contract, I just don’t see it.

On pace for 48 EV goals.

Those are Emmanuel Sanders type numbers

McCabe has been an utter disappointment for like 4 or 5 years now. I honestly just forget he's there and hope he will just go away.
- BeadyEyedDouche

McCabe would be fine as a third pairing d-man with scaled back minutes. I think the Risto comparison to Phanuef was right on the nose (pun intended). Risto is fine #4 and has proven he can quarterback a PP but both of these defenders play too many defensive minutes.

Risto has the capability of playing great games.

Tonight ain’t it. He and McCabe were absolutely horrendous in our zone

- sbroads24

I think Risto has no hockey IQ and am his toughest critic. In saying that I thought he was fine tonight, McCabe struggled mightily. He’s rarely mentioned but Miller is SO good in his own net, from clearing the front to getting the puck out. Eichel is on pace for 115 points, Dahlin 82, Hutton 42 wins

If they keep winning, no one.

That's a slap in the face to the guys in the room.

Probably 2-3 weeks, he may need a conditioning stint for a week in Rochester? By then who knows if everyone is still healthy??? Might see a rotation of Scandella joker and McCabe sitting out

Yea man, I’m looking forward to Dahlin’s 82 point game season as a 19 year old as well.

Those assists, especially secondary assists are still pointless though right so it doesn’t matter ? Goals are worth 2X assists right ? Skinners goal tonight just appeared right on his tape in the slot. Eichel’s secondary assist on the Reinhart goal was useless ?

Skinner has to score goals don’t you get it ? If he doesn’t we’d be paying him $9M to draw penalties cause he has no play making ability nor does he defend well at all.

Rob Ray said on S&BD - and despite the source, I tend to agree with him here - Montour is the type of talent you make room for when he's healthy. It's not like Bogo coming back where you can say "wait your turn"

- jcragcrumple

Here's a wild thought...Montour is the guy to trade.

Long term the right side is Miller, Risto, Joker. The left is Dahlin, McCabe, Pilut. Short term Scandella plays instead of Pilut.

The advantage is we run with the six we have, who are working well together, and more importantly, Montour has huge value while Scandella or Risto don't. If Montour gets you a 60 point forward, it's worth considering.

I agree - Risto and Montour are largely redundant.

I don't think we need both

But he doesn’t. And you traded a good D prospect and a 1st for him.

It’s asinine to not see how good he can be under Kruger.

But they are different

Both bad in their own end at times.

Montour is an excellent transition player. Ristolainen is terrible in transition.

I just mean they're both 2nd pair RHD

Although, Homie has talked up Montour's ability to play the left side, so perhaps as you said, he takes McCabe's spot at LD

It’s fun to watch hockey & football again in buffalo. This Sabres team is light years different from last year. Who woulda thunk it there is something to having a good coach and secondary scoring.

If they’re keeping Risto option B should be to see if you get something for McCabe.

Not getting a forward back for Scandella or selling low on Montour after just getting him is moronic IMO
