Of all the teams predicted to be last in their division, Minnesota does seem to have the best chance at a surprise making of the playoffs. If everyone on the roster has or matches their career year, Wild are in.

I'd be interested which 4 teams he sees the Wild as better than though.

Please save me a little of whatever you're having. Not sure who Wild finishes ahead of except possibly Chicago

It will be pure luck if Nashville places ahead of the Hawks let alone the Wild.

I would like the Wild to make the playoffs, though everything looks to be against them. Then again, there's a reason why they play the regular season. I'm just glad it's a new season after last year.

Last year Chicago had career years from Toews & Kane and they still missed the playoffs. Outside of a signing a few aging defenseman and firing their HOF coach, not much is expected in Chicago

I do however agree with this well written blog. I believe the Wild are a playoff team. Adding a healthy Dumba who is the best offensive D, the captain, then the speed and youth of Donato and Fiala not to mention the off season signings, this is deeper Wild team with something to prove.

Hopefully last nights performance wasn't a harbinger of things to come for Parise this season because he sure looked washed up.

Yeah, he did not look good at all last night. They all had pretty much a bad game overall. Yes, there were flashes of good, almost great, play in the game. But none of it was ever sustained. The major thing that stood out to me was that the Preds passes were all tape to tape and rarely short 5ft passes. The Wild on the other hand appeared to play like kids do at the lowest levels...that is lots of short passes that were easily broken up, bunching up around the puck and completely missing on most longer passes.

Now some of that can be attributed to it being the 1st game of the season, but the Preds mostly had no problem with tape to tape passes. If the Wild play like they did for about 45-50 minutes of that game all season, it's going to be a long, long year.

Is this where we start saying who they should trade away and what the Wild can get for those players?
