It was certainly underrated at the time, but getting a pair of 2nd round picks and buying low on Duclair was exceptionally good value for Dzingel. It's also no secret that they'd also had their eye on Duclair for a while. Pound-for-pound, that trade is up there with the Brassard deal.

Personally, I think the problem with Duclair is that on more competitive teams he's been fairly redundant in a 2nd line role, and not defensively ready to play an effective two-way game. That kind of limited range can be a death sentence for an NHL prospect, but in Ottawa he could fairly easily slot into a scoring line role for the next 2-3 years, especially given that he can play RW/LW. That should give him a rather unique opportunity to see where his offensive potential can take him, and by all accounts he seems to be recognizing the value of that opportunity.

Thought alot of the bubble guys were absent last night;

batherson formenton Norris abramov didn't stand out much.

parker had a really great game as did duclair and lajoie . brannstrom was ok, not spectacular

both goalies looked good especially Anders

Funny. Leaf uniform just brings out the ugly in everyone. Never saw Harpur lose a fight wearing Sen's colours. Puts on blue and white and gets punched out in his first game. For the Leafs choking is not just a team outcome it also appears to be an individual enterprise.
