So far I would say Holm is better at defense than Gilbert because Gilbert doesn't skate at NHL speed/agility - he's not Seabrook slow but he's border line #6 d-man at best.

You're (some might say your) killing me with the news on Seabs - was hoping for a slight uptick. Oh well.

Which is better at defense?

I like Holm, he's smooth seems to have a good sense of where to be, good hands to pass in tight spots.

What i like about Gilbert unlike Dahlstrom or Koekkoek, he uses his size as an advantage

Holm also has a decent motor. Fluid skater who can skate out of jams. His passes always appear to be on the forwards tape when exiting the d-zone. So far so good. Nice surprise thus far.

Well, it is only the first game he's played ... so hope springs eternal.

I agree with you on Gilbert using his size and being more physical than #63 and #68.

FWIW. Seabs and Maatta were plus 13 in SAT. Scoring chances were in favor of that duo 8-2

Gilbert. It was Gilbert who was doing the heavy lifting in their own zone. IMO. Holm was getting out of position a bit. Especially in supporting his partner. Not that he is horrible and it can't be corrected but there were a couple of time he didn't give Gilbert any options with the puck.

I love Seabs but he skates like he has lead in his skates. Hopefully he gets his legs under him and he gets quicker with some more game action - but it was painful to see him get beat to pucks and passed by guys who started several strides behind him.

That bad?

Can we start the Seabrook trade scenarios now?

Seabrook, Sikura and a 3rd for Byfuglien.

Ah. I wasn't even considering players. I was talking about systems. TBF, a lot of the Hawks players haven't played in Rockford yet.

Results mean nothing to me in the pre-season

I've been working and watching on and off. And everytime I look up Maata is getting a shot blocked. WTF.

Disagree all you want, but I saw that happen 3 times in a row when I turned sideways and actually looked at the tv.
