Perfect! Now tell me Sweeney signed him for the rest of the season. Cycle him a Miller (when he's back) and add some life and real grit to the team.

All kinds of names out there being linked to the Bruins ...

Kreider
Toffoli
MoJo (again)
Brenden Dillon (defenseman from the Sharks?)
Ondrej Kase (Ducks winger?)

Etc. etc. etc...

I say go for Kreider, sign him long term.

Don Sweeney makes a statement on David Backes' future: "After speaking with David, we have agreed that it is in the best interest of David and the Bruins for him not to play in Providence at this time."

"David is fit and able to play, but in order to preserve all potential options for both David and the Bruins moving forward, we have decided this is the best course of action."

Unless I'm missing something the only options available are buyout, trade him and eat a big part of his contract or retires ? Can't see him playing again for the Bruins

That statement reads an awful lot like Backes doesn’t want to retire and Sweeney might have a potential trade option for him somewhere ... Wouldn’t that be something!!

He’s a complete waste of cap space right now. Make it happen. Any relief will help.

Ok, tradebait. My list so far this season of guys I’d either like to shed their salary or guys who could be used as trade pieces:

Main roster:
-Backes (obviously) $6m
-Moore $2.75, brings nothing that Lauzon, Clifton, Vaak etc. doesn’t already bring but at much friendlier cap hits.
-Heinen $2.8, just don’t get enough out of this player, and they don’t miss a beat without him.
-Kuraly $1.2, redundant bottom line player. Dime a dozen.
-Gryz $1.4, due for a raise next season. Would rather invest in Krug long-term.
-Wagner $1.35 starting next season. Too much $$ for a 4th liner.

Cap relief on these 6 players is $15.5 million. We also have another $3.17 million coming off the books after this season from Beleskey and Seidenberg.

‘In the System’ players with value:

-Zboril Least likely of the more highly-touted D prospects to be an impactful player.
-Cehlarik Give him a fresh start, guaranteed he’s playing in the NHL on almost every other team out there.

Go hard for Kreider. Re-sign long term.

Resign Krug long term.

Add another big, physical defenseman like that Brenden Dillon guy in San Jose.

Guys like Freddy, Senyshyn, Vaak, Studnicka ... All looking like they’re on track to be future NHL’ers.

Sounds like big Buff is on the outs in Winnipeg ....

Could be a good rental option.

didnt know seids was still on payroll

Krug is 28 years old...not sure he will be happy with a 5 year term; my guess wants 7 years...I would be shocked if Gryz is traded...him and Chuck seem destined to play together for years...

Just me but I would concentrate on getting rid of Backes and Moore contracts...I would keep Heinen and although having bit of a down year, Kuraly seems to step up on the big stage...would keep him...

assume Miller will not play and certainly a tough guy on D would be good...

All depends on the price...as always..

i just read the grievance is gonna be settled and he will be a UFA...but has to go thru waivers first so unlikely Bruins would get him...no idea on the ankle...he has played forward and defence from my memory

You think a team would claim him and take on his current contract?

The termination thing just confuses the sh!t out of me haha. And I'm really not THAT fkn dumb.

What I'm reading:
Possible mutual termination
Hasn't skated, unlikely to play this year

Hell if he can play and cost nothing but a small contract I'm down but this seems astronomically unlikely. He did play wing a bunch in his youth with the Hawks so...

So he needs to clear waivers for purpose of mutual contract termination. Then any team can negotiate a new contract with him.

Don’t see any takers on his current deal, though.

Yeah so for my own sanity: if they terminate and nobody claims they don't actually pay him but it counts in full against their cap, regardless if he signs elsewhere. Or does a 'mutual' termination mitigate that?

Furthermore, what grounds does a team need to terminate a contract? Does a team just get to say fyou we're not paying, we'll eat the cap hit, even if the player is fit and willing to play?

Crickets

So you do have to do something fkd up to be terminated, like Richards got terminated for oxycodone or whatever. They just were salivating at that excuse. Very gray area. Peg want to terminate Byfwheat cuz he didn't show up and he's saying yeah cuz me ankles fkd from hockey you d!ckheads. Can't say for sure but mutual must mean a financial deal worked out.

So was Kovy a 'mutual' and if not how did they justify outright termination? Don't ask me why this is sticking on me, I simply MUST know

Not sure about any of this contract termination bullpoop, but what I do know is that Lauzon is making Moore expendable and Blidh is starting to make Nordstrom expendable...
