which players had a problem with the hit? i can see them annoyed with him not defending himself when challenged..

If a Bruin did that hit, I would be thrilled...

Scotty Upshall said: “ From this angle, it’s clear as day MT has ABSOLUTELY ZERO intention of making a hockey play. Again, for those of u who haven’t played at any level, other than Xbox, our new NHL states u must acknowledge there’s a puck on the ice at some point (I had no idea most nights either!)”

Teemu Selanne said: “And Kassian will face @NHL hearing for protecting himself from this 2 dangerous hits...@GeorgeParros not right...”

Those are just the two that I could find right off the top of my Twitter feed. Several players “liking” the posts too ... Evander Kane one of them.

You look at both of the hits, both are charging, both are high, and both are targeting a specific person, not making a “hockey play“.

Dirty IMO.

They've actually done a good job at sending the message that head shots are not good for anybody, but these hits can't be deemed dirty or illegal or we really will have a sterile league. The hope is the idiot hits will stay away and more sensible hard nosed hits that may incidentally cause injury will stay.

He took legal liberties with a supposed tough guy who's way bigger than himself and favourably changed the game for his team. Good for him, let Kassian go cry himself to sleep. Just wish Looch were half what he used to be as a fighter and destroy the crybaby wannabe

meh...first one was borderline; 2nd one was fine IMO. Kassian had the puck and it wasn't a head shot and seemed to glide into the hit. Seems like this Edmonton based newspaper is skewing the response to suit Edmonton fans, me thinks ,and searched out comments to support Kassian.

Seems the bigger issue in the comments is Tkachuck not willing to go with Kassian...which I didnt like either..

1st hit Kassian didn’t have the puck, Tkachuk took 3 full strides, left his feet and made direct contact up high on Kassian. Seen lesser called 5+ game match penalty.

2nd hit Kassian did have the puck but Tkachuk took 5 strides straight at him before creaming him. Feet stayed on the ice and no direct contact to the head. Could have easily been a 2 minute minor - charging.

Frankly I loved watching the ragdolling on Tkachuk that ensued ... Thought he deserved it.

Paul Maurice posted: “I have a blog upcoming regarding Tkachuk and Kassian. Will say for now that situations such as these aren't why the aggressor rule exists. It exists to protect defenseless players from an attack, not a provocateur who then turtles”

Pooooor widdoh zachy

Tkachuk def has a little Lemieux in him no doubt but I don't think he should take a beating and sit for 5 minutes for owning a much bigger and less skilled guy during play. Well he got his beating anyway. Time honoured rat tradition, do some dodgy sh!t and let the other guy sit. Don't think either should be punished further really. I wish someone on the B's had the stones to do that kind of thing to an opposing monster. Be great if Ritchie did it to Wilson say.

I just hope our old friend gives all star 13 goal Zed his satisfaction next time and can summon some past fury.

Jesus Gallant fired to make room for Randy Quaid wtf???

Now there's an available coach I like, but definitely not advocating a dismissal here.

Yeah he'd be ok. I'd give Frederic a look on 3rd or 4th line, see what happens. Get some size and aggression in there.

Please sweet baby Jesus, somebody claim him...

Blidh is already up with the big club and requires waivers to be sent back to Providence, so he might get first look. Definitely would add some grit and physicality to the roster. Not much offensive upside though.

Freddy seems like the obvious choice to call up, although he could probably benefit from more time in Providence to fine-tune his game and fill out his big frame. Guy can fight and does not shy away from the rough stuff. Instant upgrade over Ritchie even as is. I’d be cautious of shouldering the load of team enforcer on the shoulders of a 21-year-old prospect though. He’s got more to offer than just that. All that being said, I wouldn’t mind seeing him with the big club for a couple games to see how his improvements in Providence translate.

If we want to add speed, Kuhlman is the guy. Not much in the way of toughness though.

I suspect Legacy (who was spectacular last Sunday) gets recalled to fill in for Tuukka if he hasn’t been already.

Damn it .... Was hoping he’d be gone so he can’t be Bruce’s binky anymore.

Kuhlman recalled ... not going to do anything for the toughness factor, but he might improve that 2nd line.

Vladar recalled to back up Halak ... Probably because Legace is subject to waivers.

I can live with Kuhlman. He may not frighten anyone but he ain't afraid to get dirty and isn't easily deterred
