Rakell and Meier are really the only absolute 100% dream guys that are even (barely) semi plausible
Go for it Donnie

From Andy Strickland:

Expect a move involving David Backes before Monday’s trade deadline. Likely moving back to the Western Conference. #Bruins

Needs to happen. Literally needs to if we have any hope of keeping Krug next season and adding an impact player for 2RW.

Just hope it’s not a top tier prospect headed out with David ...

Believe #nhlbruins  are sending a first-round pick to #nhlducks, along with David Backes (1 year left at $6M) as part of deal for Ondrej Kase.

Believe the full deal is Ondrej Kase to BOS for 1st-round pick, David Backes and prospect Axel Andersson.

Wow...ducks taking all of Backes salary??

Edit: Bruins keep 25% of salary

TRADE

To Boston #Bruins
F Ondrej Kase (RFA on July 1, 2021)

To Anaheim #Ducks
F David Backes 25% retained (UFA on July 1, 2021)
D Axel Anderson
2020 1st round pick (BOS)

So Sweeney got a guy who has some term left...good potential and almost got rid of Backes contract...seems ok guys?

In 5v5 Kase had a 13% shooting percent in '18, 12% in '19, 4% this year. 0.72 expected goals per 60 this year, which places him behind Pasta but the same as Bergeron and DeBrusk. 18.3 attempts per 60 is right behind Pasta and well above all other B's forwards.

He likes to shoot!

reading he has had concussions tho

I like the deal, but inexcusable in the first place to ink a contract that will cost you a 1st round draft pick AND salary to rid yourself of down the road.

With that out of the way and all things considered, I’m happy with the deal. It needed to happen. Lots of upside with Kase ... Young and has term left at a friendly hit and most of Backes’ $$ is off the books. We have some late-blooming prospects in Providence that could still pan out (Senyshyn, Zboril, Vaak, etc.) so that softens the blow a little on losing the 1st round pick...

Here’s your ‘sneaky’ deal, G. I like it.

What’s next? Would be great to get Moore off the payroll.

Big fan of the deal.

1.5 on the books for Backes next year is much more manageable, especially with Seidenberg and Beleskey finally off the books. Have enough D guys that AA isnt a huge loss.

My buddy is a Ducks fan, loves Kase. Just needs to stay healthy.

yeah...im reading that too...if he stays healthy it is a big win

but i guess if he is injured this still does free up some $ to sign RFA's and Mr. Krug...doesnt free up all the $ tho..

Wow, surprising. Gotta say that in and of itself it is the best deal so far for the buyer team. Value wise it's like a 2nd rounder for Kase, at the very least a solid and cheap RFA who has bigger upside. Great trade.

With that 1st gone now, what's the equivalent we have to give up in its place in the next deal? Only issue. Nice job Donnie.

I like the deal but want to lock Sweeney up on July 1st every year moving forward
for eternity

So whats left? About 5 million in Cap space? Definitely need another move.

I'd be ok if Mojo comes back for the playoffs. Buffalo isn't going anywhere.

Like the player, but hes signed through next year too at 4.5. That would again make it hard to keep Krug.

Id love to get Josh Anderson, Columbus is done. Hasnt played in 2 months so another risky move though.

Marchand -Bergy-Pasta
Debrusk-Krejci-Anderson
Bjork-Coyle-Kase

Thats a really balanced top 9, and probably a pipe dream.

So maybe Heinen/Bjork + Vaak/Frederic for KP next. Do we have to add to that?

Probably .... Palmieri won’t come cheap that’s for sure. Wonder if they’d have any interest in having Moore back? Something like Heinen + Moore, or Heinen + a top prospect like Vaak or Freddy. Might even have to add a pick to that.

It’s a haul, but this is the year ....

Go all in.

I’d love Palmieri. Would need to move more salary out to do it though and still be able to re-up Krug. Heinen, Moore, Bjork, Kuhlman, all prospects except Studnicka, our 2nd and 3rd round picks should all be in play.

If they can shed Heinen and Moore’s salaries and manage to swing a deal for Palmieri, they would still have enough money to resign Krug this summer and have a much-improved roster.

Marchand - Bergeron - Pastrnak
DeBrusk - Krejci - Palmieri
Bjork - Coyle - Kase
Nordstrom - Kuraly - Wagner

He’s been consistent but has seemed to plateau down there this season. Kind of like Lauzon seemed to which makes me believe he might look better in Boston than Providence if that makes any sense.

Either way, great top-tier prospect or trade chip.

I’m going to the P-Bruins game tomorrow ... I’ll give you the scoop, scoop
