1 for 1 for Taylor Hall. Leafs can sign hall long term for probably 11-12 million, which is what they offered Marner, and NJ can overpay Marner to stay, while Hall is probably a goner.

Meanwhile Hall gets 100 points with Tavares and Marner comes back down to 75-80 probably. Leafs look like geniuses, and NJ can brag they got a star back for a guy who was walking out the door on them anyway.

Thoughtful but not good enough ...Hall will be 28 in November.

I'd imagine the Devils would drool at the prospect of having Hughes and Marner on the same line for 7 years.

Leafs would need a lot more.

Isn't there a worse place we can send Marner? Columbus? Detroit?

I suppose you can do it with other plants, never tried. It’s my first time growing so I researched a lot. But, it’s a weed and will grow as long as it has sunlight and water, lol.

Have fun cutting those 4! They look great by the way. I recommend having a friend come help you when clipping them. Lots of strain on the shoulders, and back. Also grab like 15 pairs of scissors from the dollar store

Due to the wild wackiness of the salary cap calculator, he doesn't have a deadline of December 1st.

Every day after the opening puck drop reduces the cap space the Leafs have -and the space they have to give Mitchy.

My sincere hope is that Point signs a bridge deal that is in keeping with what the Bolts usually hand out - meaning low.

It will hopefully put pressure on Marner to sign a bridge deal.

I haven't done the math, but big money up front, not so much 2nd year, 3rd year of $10 million so that his qualifying offer has to be high.

Kick this can down the road three years.

Yup ...I would think Dubas has to be thinking
1. MM sitting out all year is not an option b/c we're in the window to win.
2. A trade has to be a realistic option.
3. If he's going to make a trade the leverage he has begins to wane after the puck drops on the season.

So were I him I'd have a deadline and my homework done on all potential trades.

according to this a 5/6 year deal around 10.5 is the happy ground

And like YOU those opposing NHL execs and those agents all have an inherent bias to see MM get the most he can (and the Leafs suffer).

It's not really my bias speaking.

It's what I think is the amount necessary to resolve the situation.

I'm not saying it's what's fair or what he "deserves".

If it were up to me, he'd never sign and get traded.

hall has the same agent as marner. non-starter, as ferris will be looking for +$1-2M over marner for hart trophy hall.

unfortunately for marner, the association he chooses to have is the reason to trade him. can't go full circle on the problem.

It's impossible to remove bias. I don't blame you for it but we can't deny it either. If MM signed for 5 x 10.5 you'd put your feet up, light up a smoke, drink a Dieu du Ciel and gloat in victory.

Seriously, Max - can we please stop with the insults of Marner's mother?

The only thing - the only franking thing - that you know about her is that she stood up and "did the floss" during the mothers' trip.

That's the sum total of what you know about her.

So drop the misogynist crap about Marner's mother. It makes you look like an arsehole.

How good of a leader can Marner be really?

His teams have never got past the first round!

Habs and Domi won't be in a Marneresque situation next summer.

I guarantee it.

....

Sure because he has arbitration rights but MOSTLY because of how much of a real leader he is.

Dunno, Domi is the expert on loosing and being a looser, we'd have to get his take.

So do they all have a screw loose? Or are they loose because they are screwed, or are they screwed loose, or do they have loose screws?

I'm so . .

I need to sit down.
