That's bullpoop, he's got a good shot. Not like he had 5 goals and 85 assists. He did still score 26 with 11.2 SH%.

90% of his goals are in tight....jmo

probably. $10.5M/year was the number for 5 years that made more sense to me.

10.5M x 7 is a million overpay for mitch and plenty of money for what he has accomplished.

- Tumbleweed

They overpaid for the first two and Marner's agent is expecting to be overpaid too.

But if these guys all perform at an even higher level and win, it won't matter.

And Tavares' aren't?

Doesn't really matter, pucks in the net, it's a goal.

The previous deals should be off the table. Offer him slightly less.
- Fakepartofme

yup.

but more than that, i think it's not possible; without other moves.

as understand LTIR, ~$10.5M is the most he could get. but that will basically leave the leafs with zero cap flexibility during the year.

He is fantastic with the puck. But couldn't break an egg with his shot.

yep. the PP stagnated last year because of marner's shot.

teams figured out he couldn't score from the faceoff dot. they played pass and let marner fire wide and watched the puck go along the boards and out of the zone.

Uhhh. Watch the link I posted. He scores with his wrist shot, from the dot, multiple times.

I literally wrote that he did in the post you are responding to.
- aminnes

You said last year only. I said Babcock did to Nylander what he did to Marner before last year, because he did.

They watch the game about all they see is Matthews. It's kinda nuts actually.

Most of his goals are from under 10 ft. Nothing from top of the circle out at all. 4 goals between the top of the circle and the faceoff dots...4. The rest are tight. Oh 4 empty netters too.

A bit, but not near as much. Please let's not go down the Nylander is as good as Marner thing again, it's so dumb.

So the velocity on someones shot is based on how many time they use it? The 4 shots were pretty hard and accurate right?

I'm not saying he is, nor do I think it. I never have. I just correctly pointed out that their stats were similar.

And Nylander might not have been sent down the lineup as much but it was close.

pp started great.

than completed struggled mid-season with marner doing same thing over and and over and over and over again.

apple doesn't fall far from the tree, paul.

There's 5 guys on the PP, plus an assistant coach (who got replaced) and a head coach but Marner's the one to blame...

A lot of people are letting their bias show today. Letting it hang out and shaking it all about.

Mathews is probably top 5 in the league in velocity. Marner is what evs. Middle of the pack probably. But he is a pass-fist guy anyway. He is given the puck and his job is to find the open man. Matthews job is to get open, on the PP anyway.

Yup. 5 man unit but Marners fault because he wants to get paid. How many secondary assists did Reilly get because he dished it to Marner last year - lots. #Marnersucks.

Agreed, but if Marner is no threat to crank a clapper, makes it harder to shake your checker and get open. Again, jmo.

I am sure he works on it. He is not a big guy. He will get stronger.

On whatever team he plays for.

And Marner is probably a top 5 passer. I have trouble putting anyone other than crosby, mcdavid, and kane higher than him
