This team does not have much talent but I believe that McD and Draisaitl will drag them close to a playoff spot, if they stay healthy.

I believe that this team does not have much talent at all, and any injury to Draisaitl or Nuge or obviously McDavid will mean this team finishes in the basement. They didn't improve on last year on paper. I doubt they finish any higher in points or in the standings.

It's going to be a long season regardless. This is a lottery team. No forward depth at all besides 3 players, weak blue line and questionable at best goaltenders. Same thing every year

We got Neal for Lucic . That's a massive improvement .

You can say the exact same thing about any team that loses their top 2 super stars lol.

Neal isn't a massive improvement over my 11-year-old. You can't upgrade poo with different poo.

Prospects are allowed to just have some fun...no team structure that we will see when Tippett takes over the big club...even preseason with the big boys is just a shake of the rust week or two, aside from maybe two or three guys who have a chance to stick...

You will change your mind when he puts in 25 plus with the oilers...of course the flames wouldn't need that production...right...right...playoffs showed that to be true...lol

Also I'm a devils fan lol, plus the leaFs have accomplished a lot more in my lifetime than the Oilers have.

Leaves. LEAVES. Its plural for the singular leaf. How did you witness the leaves win something and still know how to use a computer, or is your nursing home providing you with an online aid?

Have they though?

I’m as pessimistic and cynical of an oilers fans as there is. And I fully concede the leafs are in another echelon than the oilers at present. Not even close really.
But what have the leafs accomplished ?

I’m almost 31, so the oilers heyday is before my time (in a practical sense anyway) so I won’t bother Invoking that time period.
but outside of the leafs being decent for a few years at the end of the 90s. (The oilers weren’t terrible then either). They’ve accomplished nothing really.

Haven’t been past the first round since 04.
Haven’t won two consecutive rounds this millennium.
Have they even been to a cup final in since the 60s?
And they aren’t winning division titles either so one can’t say they’re regular season juggernauts running into bad luck

Hell, the oilers have won more playoff rounds during this last ‘decade of darkness” than the leafs have.
And have been to a Stanley cup game 7 more recently than the leafs have won a round.

Even the turn of the century period when the leafs were ok, the oilers won a few first rounds as well. And against the elites at the time like the avs and the stars.

The oilers have been abysmal for ages. And we’re staring another brutal season right in the face. But as a leafs fan, one would think you’d know better than to throw stones considering the house you’ve lived in forever.

I'll change my mind if he puts in 25 plus playing on the third line. Chiasson scored 22 playing with McDavid and will get nowhere near that if he's not with McDavid again. Neal doesn't add anything to the Oiler's top line except an even bigger anchor for McDavid to have to deal with.

The Flames had Neal's production in the playoffs, and they're just devastated they won't have it this year.

So many have scored 30 goals from the third line...lol...do u even know how hockey works...third liners play no pp and all pk, less than 12 mins a night at times...your logic means anyone on the top two lines points totals mean nothing cause they play all the best minutes... high end scoring Talent doesn't play on third lines...if your team had a coach who wouldn't hold a grudge and thought of the team first Neal could have helped your scoring woes in the playoffs... He's only done that his whole career... I know lucic couldn't score 15-20 goals like chaisson and kassian playing with mcdavid...there goes your theory...

Dude- just stop.
This is embarrassing. Lay off the koolaid for a second.

I’m hoping Neal bounces back too, I even think he might just pot a few on the pp with Connor and Leon. but he was awful last year. Like lucic bad.
He didn’t help them at all and deserved to not play anywhere near their top 6.

I dunno if you watched him and/or the flames in the playoffs, but it had nothing to do with a coaching grudge

I do believe that it doesn’t matter what he does really. we still came out on top of that trade just for buyout/expansion draft sake. But the truth is Neal was bad last year. So bad that another gm actually agreed to trade him for Milan lucic and his contract.

On a side note, if Neal gets 15 and 40, we should all be stoked.

Um, what? If anything, Peters played Neal far, far more than he deserved, especially in the playoffs. Neal played like ass all year, Neal played like ass for four games in the playoffs. Peters still kept sending him over the boards to try and get anything from him and Neal never delivered. Neal was given every opportunity to move up in the lineup when an injury or something happened and he never took advantage.

You're right though, Peters should have been thinking of the team first and not waited until game five to scratch Neal. It's going to be a problem this year. Both Neal and Lucic should be at best the 13th forwards since they're nothing but a detriment on the ice.

There's a reason Neal is playing for his sixth team and no one's ever really been all that worried to lose him.

But hey, congratulations, have fun paying him to go away next summer.
