Well only that the Wild plan doesn’t have Gibson. I don’t mind Faulk ... just don’t want Kase to be the player gone.

There is a preponderance of offensively gifted kids coming. The D is lacking after Cam although I really like Guhle. and with some decent injury luck we should make the dance.

I feel it’s a nice mix of youth and exp.

No RC = success.

I’m not against trading Kase. As dynamic of a player he is, he does play a very dangerous style by flying around the ice with his head down, hence his two concussions. As much as it would suck to lose his offensive skills, trade him while is value is still somewhat high before his next concussion turns him into the next Simon Despres.

Along with that, I think trading for an offensive defenseman like Faulk could prove smart depending on the AAV of his extension. Anaheim has desperately missed a TRUE PP threat from the point lately and it’s been a huge problem. With Kesler and Eaves careers likely over and their salaries being buried in the LTIR and Getzlafs contract winding down, we’ll have plenty of salary. Plug Faulk in there in the top 4 and let Guhle and Mahura/Larsson develop as the bottom pair.

Eakins new offensive system should allow all of their Offensive skills be on full display

Okay. New post. That means the hockey season is starting. It makes me curious as to what fans actually want this team to realistically do this year. We are a far cry from the team that went too the western conference finals 2 years ago. But with so many young fowards and defenseman waiting to go jump up the roster one can't call this anything but a rebuild year.
I'm really happy that despite not getting a great pick we still got a playmaker on offense like trevor zegras. Last year was really tough pill to swallow and not getting that one player that we could build around would have been gut wrenching.
And to the topic at hand. I don't know what the big deal is about getting another defenseman. I know that the trade of Montour left us with some weakness on the right side. Brandon Guele being another left side defender really puts a glut of players. But let's not lose our cool here. It's not like montour was lightning it up here in Anaheim. 35 points was a career year for him. And he never seemed to fit in. Sure 50 points should be the norm for him. But like Theodore and pettersson his way was blocked. It's just a fact of NHL life. Keeping more than 3 quality players on the backend. Is almost impossible.
Plus Brandon Tracey made a nice showing at the prospect showcase. Not to shabby getting him and guhle for montour.

Yeah, your 2015 and 2016 draft year picks looked good in the rookie tournament...

King fans so jealous. 2 cups in like 60 years and they think they're all that. They sucked last year, will suck this year, and will suck for the foreseeable future.

With or without Faulk i'm curious to see how different the D will look. Wasn't it Lindholm who had comments about not liking RC's style and it prevented him from playing offense? Maybe he and Fowler and the rest will have the chance to show a little of what they can do offensively.

Also excited about all the prospects who will hopefully get a legit chance unlike what they had playing on the 4th line under RC

Kase requested a trade because he heard that Kurtis MacDermid is going to be a full-time player in the NHL this season.

That's why Nicolas Deslauriers was brought in, to deal with MacDouche directly....

Agree 100%. It's hard to argue with the stats nerds because Kase's numbers are really good, but the guy is one decent hit away from Simon Despres land. If that's the price for an offensively skilled right-shot defenseman, I'd pull the trigger. Looks like this is a moot point, though. Doesn't appear that Faulk wants to play in Anaheim, or anywhere west according to rumors.

Yep, and to a lessor extent Fowler. That man-to man crap was a nightmare! Too much skating around trying to chase your guy and then when the puck gets turned over there's nothing left in the tank to create offense. Eakins system in San Diego was fun. It's a little dangerous but there's always at least one defenseman on the rush and he insists they shoot the puck. During the rookie tournament, Hunter Drew was leading the team in shot attempts. That's very un-Carlyle like!

What is the Ducks biggest need to kind of get them into that area where they can make the play offs for x years straight?

Are they one star player away from being one of those teams ccompeteing every year or are they stuck in a middle of the road situation ?

They're on the downswing.

Have some nice pieces moving in this year, but the age group is just too spread out. Not enough guys hitting their prime at the same time.

Depends on what Zegras decides to do. If he's one and done in college, they'll be back in 2 years easy. If he stays, maybe 3 to 4 unless something crazy happens between now and then.
