I view this as voroybyev has played pro and they already know what type of player he is. Let the younger, pure rookies play higher as this is how they are projected as pro's. See what they do and how they handle themselves.

Ivan Fedotov is off to a stellar start in the KHL, crazy how deep the goalie pipeline is nowadays.

I don't think he will ever come over and if he does will take him another couple years to become a starter in the khl. could be wrong

Definitely hard to tell if Russian prospects will come over, especially when they are already 22. I do not think we will end up needing him with Hart, but could be a good potential trade chip if he decides to test out North America

Just give me all of ratcliffe-frost-farabee, inject it into my veins, etc etc etc. it would be something if in two years this is our 2nd line with the big club. 5 years down the room they become one of the best lines in Hockey. 10 years down the road they are all Gdfathers to each others children. 20 years down the line all 3 of their jerseys are retired by the Flyers. 25 years down the road all are enshrined in the same HOF ceremony.

what a ride....

The sports equivalent to dreams I have had in the past involving Kathy Ireland, Halle Berry and Nicole Scherzinger.

Wake me up in twenty years.

Very exciting! Myers has to standout. As for the rest, now is the time to make an impression for long looks in camp.

I’m looking at you Farabee, Frost and Rubtsov.

Because you're not going to play him above Frost or Rubtsov and Bunnaman is being rewarded for a good rookie season for LV last year.
- bmeltzer

Seems odd to me that a guy who made
The flyers last year and got called back up would be below a guy who had good rookie year in the aha unless they Have somewhat soured on him to the extent he is now 4th line ahl player.

Looks like those three kids are gonna get every opportunity to shine and make the team.

I hope to see Rubtsov, Strome and Vorobyev make the most of what they're given, too.

Their aspirations may be more fact finding with the 'lesser', unproved players.

I always wondered whether the selections for slots in these games was to satisfy speculations derived from the practice findings or to start a melding process. Proof of concept or testing components? Both?

I admit to some surprise at Strome being placed on the second line (column cited, now a reply from Bill says fourth. Life is so complex!). I hope he strides right to a posting in the top six. I admire him from what I've read. He is cognizant of his weakness, which is apparently solely, skating. He remains motivated, applies himself to the tasks assigned and is FREAKING HUGE!

No one is going to make the Flyers roster based on tonight's game. Vorobyov is much more polished at the pro level that several other players, so they're probably more interested in seeing how they hold up since Vorobyov has already had his share of these games. Your line means next to nothing as far as making the teams goes, especially for the "older" rookies.

the feels from seeing that Gameday picture

Yeah..it's nice to see.

When it comes to expectations this season, for the first time in a while, I am not banking on progress ie: a playoff spot. I just don't know what to expect with the changes. I hope the new coaching staff, D and 2C enable success, but I have a real wait and see attitude with the squad.

Any words on Strome? I believe the word this kid is that he's got skill, but below average skating. He's been working on his staking over the summer, hopefully to bump this up to average... Did his staking get better, hows he look in camp? Should I read into this as "no" it didn't - being on line 4.

Misha the 4th line center. How things have changed since last rookie game. Unlike many, I havent been overwhelmed with the potential of the AHL team for the past few years, until now. This team and the college ranks do have some serious talent. When the press/mgt praises the player for "doing all the little things right" often its because they are short the big things, like goal scoring talent. And thats what i heard for the past 2 years re our potential rookie forward talent. I expressed concern here last year about our lack of NHL quality depth in LV. Unfortunately that proved correct. This year I am quite the opposite. I cant wait for at least 4 players to get some NHL minutes throughout this season! I think we have at least 4 or 5 seroius keepers in this crop of prospects.

Charlie at The Athletic posted today that while improved, his skating is still not NHL level.

Wild sign Fiala to two-year, $6M deal
The Minnesota Wild signed restricted free agent Kevin Fiala to a two-year, $6 million contract on Wednesday. Fiala, who scored 13 goals and posted 39 points in 83 games last season, was the Wild's lone remaining restricted free agent with training camp set to open on Friday.

Good news keeps coming!

Guessing ES line #'s won't mean much, since it's an evaluation game, and they'll be rolling 4-lines to see everybody. More meaningful is who plays on special teams.

At the end of the day It's still a game, they will probably run the hot hand in the third period.

Unless someone flat out takes over. I agree with you about it being a rookie's game and you can't read too much into it. But is someone really stands out and looks like men among boys, I'd keep closer tabs on whomever that is.

No one makes a roster based on any particular day, all these games matter though, one piece of the puzzle.
