I know some of you guys got that PM from the guy who is angry at life and I just got that PM telling me to kill myself, too.

I think the big name RFAs start signing this week. This includes Marner.

I don't see Marner signing an 8x10. Most of the info out there is his camp is looking for a 3x10. If I were the Leafs, I wouldn't do that deal at all. 8x10? Sure, but a bridge deal over 8 million would be disastrous. If Marner does not sign in time for camp, I would seriously look at trading him. If he truly wants a Matthews type contract, time to let him go.

I think the Matthews 5 year deal has the Marner camp wanting the same. It is soooo player friendly to hit the open market so young. If Marner can get the 10 or 10.5 over 5 I think he signs it. If not, I envision a cheaper 8-9 million 3 year deal....but thinking the Leafs don't like either of those options. Thus, nothing signed yet.

If I had to make ONE guess. 3 year deal. 8.5 million.

I would agree with this, the one factor that has not been mentioned much is that Brayden Point has not signed either. He has similar - probably better stats with the 41 goals than Marner - even though he is a year older. If he signs for Kucherov type money which is possible, hard to justify Mitch making any more. I see bridge deals likely for both players, the best thing that could happen to both Mitch and the Leafs is after he signs a bridge deal, and he promptly fires Ferris.
