I’m not a huge NFL fan but I like the Steelers. Anyone have thoughts on how they’ll do this year? From what I can tell it looks like they might sneak in - WSCTeton17
Bubble team. We need to sell off the vets and rebuild. |

Tough call but I like how they are working after the AB84 and LB26 departures. Hopefully they’ll make it past the regular season this year. |

Only if it’s Rust because it opens up cap space to sign Petts - WSCTeton17
I actually like Simon and think he’s got good hockey IQ. Rust would be the logical idea since Kahun just got here. |

Our franchise QB is like 35. We don’t have a couple of years to decide this. |

You ride it out as long as you have Ben. He's still a good QB and there's only like 8 good QB's i the league. Patriots QB is like 42....They ain't concerned. Broncos are on like their 12th QB since Manning and they had to get Flacco. |

Yeah you move Rust. He's fine, nothing great nothing bad.
I don't know much of Puljarrvi other than he's almost a bust but still young and on a bad team. |

Just read somewhere Edmonton wants One of the following players in a deal for Puljujarvi: Rust, Kahun or Simon.
Is it worth it? - Barnaby36

The second Big Ben retires is the second they start to rebuild. They only go as far as Ben takes them. |

No. - j.boyd919
I think it would make sense to move Rust for Pulj if it creates cap space. Some other depth forward could then be moved for defensive depth. This whole Tanev signing has put us in a bit of a pickle and I’m looking forward to when that period ends |

Yeah I guess it’s like Sid and Geno. You let Ben be a steeler as long as he wants and then pull the plug. The window is shut for them though. We’re not doing anything for the rest of the Big Ben era. I hope he retires soon. |

I don't really agree with that. Other than too many picks last year, he was great. All the reports from camp say he looks tremendous. If the defense is improved (which it appears it is), I think they're a contender. Frankly, the defense the last couple of years is the reason they didn't get anywhere. |

Yeah I don’t attribute the window being shut to Ben. I think he personally could still lead a team to the SB and he has a good offensive line that can protect him and facilitate a running game. But Tomlin sucks, our defense is young and full of holes, and we’re hemorrhaging weapons around Ben on a year to year basis for one reason or another while he’s aging. There was a period there where our offense was so elite and Ben was still young enough where we could have overcoming a subpar defense, but Tomlin and Haley wasted that opportunity. |

I agree... Tomlin is awful. His arrogance has literally lost them games. The defense is going to be better this season however. Maybe much better. Certainly much faster. I'm actually pretty optimistic.
Here's another positive... If they struggle, Tomlin is gone. No question in my mind. This is his last season if they under-achieve. |

One last thing... They have 21mil in dead cap money this season from AB. 26mil in total. When that comes off the books next season, they'll probably sign an impact FA or two to finish off Ben's career. Granted, that's still a year out, but that will be significant. |

Several of Jake’s goals from that run were while Sid was on the bench. They were also glove side snipes. Is he a great play driver? No. Is he a star? No. Has he shown to be a somewhat elite shooter? Yup - WSCTeton17
I’ve never argued that. I just remember stating once that he is propped up by Sid and everyone that blows him daily around here basically stated he’s the greatest player ever. Pretty boring player for me personally. But so is 99 percent of the league now. He does get the job done though. I’d still take a Kunitz in his prime over him any day though. |

Phil isn’t in town but I met the rents. They’re super cool. We had a great time over brunch. Not sure if I’ll get to meet Toch sometime here but that would be really cool
I never knew Phil Sr played in the CFL - that was a cool talking point since I’m a pretty big CFL fan.
Anyways, Chris Tierney on Twitter has Pitt 7 points back of Washington and 7 pts up on CBJ and NJD |

Why is it so hard to give a guy like Mason Rudolph a chance more often? I believe in development a lot. He has the tools to be a starting QB someday. |

Do you follow college football? I think his ceiling is good backup/bottom half starter. I think he’ll be a great tank commander for us when Ben retires. |

I believe that was Brady’s ceiling too. Oh well let the guys play. I bet a lot of good talent have been wasted along the way. Don’t ever let someone tell you you can’t be good. |

I believe Andrew Luck had a lot of injuries tbh. Still I never expected him to retire this early. Nobody ever did. |
