Gladly take a 3 year bridge then 1 year of arbitration. So you have him for 4 years. Then reevaluate.

Schenn is only 28? Man it feels like he’s been around forever now.

So Bill, do you think a 3/$24m deal is out of the question for Provorov? Is he pushing that hard for a 8/80 kinda contract?

I agree he hasn’t earned that with last year’s slide, but I wouldn’t bat an eye if they did it.

I’d be happy with a 3/21. I don’t believe that would burn them.

it does burn them as then he wants a huge raise when that deal is done.

Getting a bridge deal and then paying for a known commodity and getting players under long-term contract to buy up their UFA years makes sense to me. Of course, it could always end up as a Trouba situation where the player uses arbitration to get to UFA and then cashes in.

That’s what a lot of Flyers fans would love to see. I dunno if he’d bend to 7 per on a longer term. A shorter term, maybe.

Not with last year’s regression. But he’s gonna point to talent, age, 2017-18 potential, and market. 7 is probably fair, and I can’t see him go for 6.

We need Werenski to take an undervalued deal first for Provy to take less.

There is no way a bridge deal should be that high. Think about it, that drives up the starting point for the next long term deal with the player now having more leverage.

a 2 year/5 mil per deal would be a fine bridge for Provy. nothing more. 3 years @ 5.5 mil per would be even better.

That was always standard, for sure.

I’m not sure if exceptions will become more common or not.

I hope you’re right! I totally do.

We will see what type gm fletch is and where we’re headed by the provy/tk contracts. Especially provy. Under no circumstance should he get more than 2/3 bridge deal for more than 5/5.5 aav. If it’s long term no more than 5/6 at 6/6.5 aav. No way in hell hexy would do more than that. Fletch better not start overpaying rfa’s. Hayes I can see a little because ufa and he didn’t overpay by too much extreme. We shall see. But I am worried

I can't get over the fact, if indeed it is true, his agent asked for 10mil AAV. Dude is straight up on bath salts.

There is nothing wrong with overpaying RFA's on long term deals in the front end of the deal as long as there is value in the back end. Provorov is the kind of player that you would like to do that with.

In that league do the forwards have to actual be 2/2/2 by position or can you start multiple centers for example for your starting 6 forwards

Not coming off 1st contract. No way. Even if he signs say a 8/72 9 aav and would probably be good last few years you’re still way over paying early then maybe about right for a couple years. So 2/3 of term you’re either overpay or at par. And personally I don’t think he’s gonna be elite so why would you. He will be good maybe even very very good but coming off first year contracts I only think the elite should get those huge contracts.

Yes, you should coming off the 1st contract if you can make the right deal. You're buying UFA years and getting them cheaper. I think he's going to develop into a legitimate #1 NHL defenseman.
