Bill, you could've saved a lot of keystrokes by just saying Seravelli is a known knob who was run out of this town for his piss poor reporting.
Nevertheless, thanks for the insight. |

"The Hurricanes have a lot of talent but meh goaltending and a miserly nutjob of an owner."
Wow. I can't argue with that assessment, but coming from Bill... wow. |

A year ago, an NHL assistant GM who is dying for his chance to become a GM was offered the job in Carolina before Waddell accepted it. The candidate turned it down for fear of not getting the resources that a GM needs to compete, not getting a GM range salary offer and potentially hurting his chances for a long-term GM career in the league.
Then look at what went down this off-season with Aho. Waddell had to wait for Montreal's off-sheet because Dundon wouldn't agree to the deal unless forced to (the Habs sole hope was that the frontload would trigger the Canes owner to refuse to match). He let his GM hang around this summer without a new contract and go interview in Minnesota before he'd offer a competitive raise.
As long as Dundon is owner, the Canes are going to dysfunctional and the GM will be behind the eight-ball. Which is a shame because they've assembled a damn good roster apart from the goalies. |

This article had just come out as well, folks tried to dismiss it as a guy who couldn't make it but now it seems to have more pull reading what you just wrote Bill.

That kid had 30 goals and 54 points last year with the Checkers too, just 22 years old. Not like some bum on the team he was one of their best players. |

but the flyers overpayed for Braun and he clearly wasnt needed. also add in the fact he will be blocking the "young" guys is a detriment. |

Like I said, I cannot argue with the assessment, but coming from someone who always chooses his words with care, that is a scathing indictment. |

Hayes didn’t want to play with the flyers. Gets over paid, 7 year deal, NMC. Yea he’s not going to be motivated |

There’s been at least one public dispute of elements of the story by former NHLer and current Barstool Sports podcast host Ryan Whitney, apparently a friend of Hayes’, but Seravalli is a reputable reporter and is almost certainly not making the whole thing up.
I’ll just leave this here |

Your point? We’re paying niskanen like what7-8 mil with the retained salary |

only issue i have is the gm didnt get a pick back for the retention.
Bill was there any other interest in Niskannen from other teams? They got back a decent player in gudas so it wasnt a clear dump |

So you think the reporter is closer to the situation than a friend of the player? |
