It's still a good move by Tampa, Erne was not going to get much ice time on that team and is a 4th line winger. I'm sure Tampa is happier with the additional cap space.

i guess this may not be relevant to testers but for devs it seems like they are often underpaid, overworked, and faced with really poop job stability. you'd have to be super passionate to get into that. pay and job stability would not an issue if working for the big boys though (ubisoft, etc)

i guess this may not be relevant to testers but for devs it seems like they are often underpaid, overworked, and faced with really poop job stability. you'd have to be super passionate to get into that. pay and job stability would not an issue if working for the big boys though (ubisoft, etc)

QA and Devs I think are pretty similar in that there's a large number of more junior people not making a ton and then some Senior people who earn really well. Full time positions at game studios who release AAA titles are pretty solid though. I found that the job instability comes more from people who seek roles with greater responsibility and raises by moving from one company to the other. Like any industry though, start-ups and small companies have more to lose because they have to be all in on their products.

Games have been good to me in general and have let me carve out a pretty good career for myself (and I'm not even particularly smart or talented, just results oriented). 13 years and counting, never been fired, never been laid off, steady increase in salary all along.

Digital media in general tends to be pretty recession proof too so that's kind of nice too.
