Yes, but how much worse could any coach in history fall since the win streak?

This was an epic collapse.
Probably a top 5 buffalo sports let down.

- Boss34

That's a stretch.

Wide Right.
No Goal.
Music City Miracle.
Carolina Game 7.
The Ronnie Harmon game.

And that's giving it only 2 minutes of thought.

I'd add the leclair hole goal into the mix with that one

This collapse was like the Bills starting 5-1 in 2008 and finishing 7-9. Bad, not unheard of

I think this really can't be answered until opening night roster is set

up front they removed pommer
and to lesser extent berglund and nylander

and added johansson, vesey, cozens and olofsson

on the back end you remove beaulieu and added joker, montour and miller

IMO they still need to remove 2 or 3 scrubs up front and 2 scrubs on the blueline

Cozens was in for lunch again today (with Pekar)

Honestly the sabres aren't jumping Tampa the leafs or Boston. Just not close in talent.

That leaves Florida. Barzal, Huberdeau, and Hoffman are as good or better than our top three. The rest of the rosters are pretty similar, but they have a vezina trophy winner and we have two guys who can't get their save percentage into respectable backup territory.

That means you have to be better than all but three Metro teams. Washington is just too good. So I got to beat out all but two of NYI, PIT, COL, PHI, CAR. I can envision scenarios where the sabres are better than all those teams, but collectively its a real stretch.

Maybe they have a lot of potential, but Risto and Larsson and Sobotka and Girgs and Scandella and Bogo and...everyone from last year, they are all still here. They will block exciting guys like Joker and CJ Smith and Asplund and Pilut from playing. So the chance for a breakout season from the young guys is slim.

Honestly I see us around 19th or 20th next year in the league.

I think this is all fair.

84 points is a reasonable betting line. Only way I see us overachieving is huge years from Mitts, Dahlin, and if Olofsson in the Calder discussion

Roster surgery.
Sabres should easily make the playoffs with all the bionic surgical upgrades. Lee Majors is freaking jealous of the 2019-20 Buffalo Sabres.

Did you like Jason Pominville?

Then you're going to go buck wild for Jimmy Vesey!

6.25% more goals!

We dont even know if this is our roster for the first game of the season let alone if another team gets decimated with injuries, has a bad year, etc.

It goes to show how times have changed. In the late 70s, a six million dollar man is a half cyborg capable for fighting and defeating Bigfoot.
In the late 20-teens, a six million dollar man is Kyle Okposo.

Comparing Vesey to Pommer just based on goals is so limited thinking bro

Don't look at the advanced stats. Vesey is not a hero there.

He does play a bit of PK though which will be nice for the team

The roster surgery is what it is: highly predicated on growth from within, with some calculated outside adds. I would have enjoyed a bit more, but let's see how it goes

I’d rather have Pommer.

Of all the moves I understand the Vesey one the least.

He’s a solid 5 on 5 goal scorer but the position and contract make no sense to me for us

But it’s a 3rd, the same price Murray paid to get interviewed about him

I am already too negative about the team. If I start yelling about them for the 1000th time, i will be utterly insufferable

It was bad, no question. To argue that we had the best record in the NHL in spite of the coach, then the worst record in the NHL because of the coach, doesn't hold up to me. I blame the roster slightly more than the coaching. Doesn't bother me that some feel the opposite. Taking it to the extreme that it was a playoff caliber team, with horrendous coaching is too far to me.

When the NFL's contract is up with DirecTV, I think you will see YouTube/Google or Amazon Prime get the new deal and do that. There's a reason Jeff Bezos was in Goodell's suite during the Super Bowl last February.
- buffalofan19

This might be way late, but the NFL has already streamed games on Prime. They streamed like 8 or so last year. They were the poopty Thursday night games, but still. Also Yahoo and Twitter get a few games a year too. It's only a matter of time.

I wonder if the NHL would get demonetized for having violent content, or get a copyright claim because you can overhear the songs played in the arena.

I think it needs to be separated into team failures over a season or more, like the Sabres 2018-19 season, versus game events like no goal or wide right.

This is a good post.

The same sentiment can be expressed for
Risto sucks cause Housley's system sucked
Yet, Eichel, Skins, Sam, Dahlin all played very good and enjoyed reading yed career years.
