I strongly believe it reflected one of the worst coaching performances in Buffalo sports history. The streak showed potential, the grooming and leading of that potential was dismal. Coaches are responsible for 1) the character of his rooster 2) the development of winning strategy in the face of other teams effort. 3) the best possible blend of the talents on his rooster. Housley seemed lost on all 3. Admittedly my admiration for Kreuger is a gut reaction at this point, but my gut was right about Housley.

Kreuger was my favorite coaching candidate. I'm very optimistic about him. If people really feel Phil was so catastrophically bad that this team is going to take a huge step forward from the 1st game of his first season, on coaching alone, I think they are setting their expectations too high. New team, new staff, new systems....it's going to take a little time. This roster still has significant flaws and it would be almost impossible to match their first 30 games of last season.

If I remember right, 39 confirmed that a few weeks ago. Credit where it's due.

If they do anything other than change the shade of blue of the current jerseys, the designer should be shot.

Also, I was talking about next year's jerseys.

Someone started a rumor that every jersey design is going to be worn at some point this year to commemorate the anniversary.

If that's the case, I think they should go full Oregon University, mixing and matching every jersey, helmet and pants combo so that no single combo is worn twice.

Strong defense corps and goaltending did. Look at their top 6 wingers and tell me why that position warrants spending $9M on one winger.

I agree and that's the best point one can make about moving on from Skinner. It fits the cap structure and future makeup of the team better. Plus, they had to know Aho was going to cost a pretty penny long term.

I would have liked to seen something more bold and daring. These will look sharp but a change to original royal blue and golds would have been preferred. With no third jersey..because why would you need one. I'm probably just reverberating the general consensus on this one.

The royal blue was inevitable since last year when half the merchandise they sold in the Sabres store was that color, though I thought it would be this season. I never noticed they got rid of the gray on the arms a couple of years ago, which counted as a uniform change, which, I guess, means they couldn't make the change this season.

I am in the minority, but I don't understand the fascination with the royal blue.

For me it would just signify going back to your roots I guess. 50 years is a big anniversary so why not have the original colors. I like the current uniforms, don't get me wrong, but true throwbacks for a 50th seems fitting.

I guess "going back to your roots" would mean more to me if there were actually roots worth going back to. If there is one word that defines the blue and gold era as a whole, it would be "mediocrity".

The team legally can’t go back until next year. 20-21 season. The nhl has a rule in place for it

I think its a decent idea. The problem is, social media is crazy with love / hate comments. Very hard to get a good read on things.
