I was sitting in my lounge chair, smoking a cigar, naked with a silk robe on, sipping King Louis VIII, waiting for this comment.

can you be naked AND have a silk robe on?

For the love of all things good,
It is Arbitrator.

- IonSabres

I believe in this case, arbiter is correct

"An arbiter is anyone who makes widely or generally accepted decisions about anything. People can be informally recognized as arbiters of style, good taste, etc. An arbitrator is an individual formally designated by the parties to resolve a legal dispute, and whose decision will be accepted by those specific parties."

I'm looking for someone to be informally recognized as an arbiter of hockey dimensions

So skating isn't a dimension? He's arguably the most elite skater in the NHL - definitely top 10. I'm not talking pure speed, but technique and fundamentals.

Who is the arbiter of dimensions?

Al Gore, inventor of the internet. Just waiting for him to weigh in.

Removing Jeff Skinner vaulted the Canes to the playoffs

Holy hell this is something

- sbroads24

Strong defense corps and goaltending did. Look at their top 6 wingers and tell me why that position warrants spending $9M on one winger.

I'd like to place an order for a two-dimensional vegan salad and will eat as many as it takes to get Jeff Skinner's negative addition off our team.

Ok ok ok.

So it's like this.

If you eat 10 tacos a day, you're more likely to get hot sauce on your shirt.

If you don't eat tacos, no hot sauce issues.

It may look like the non-taco eating, clean shirt wearing individual is having a better time.

They aren't. They have no tacos. The lack of sauce is coincidental.

That's all I got today.

Of course this comes across my CBS Sports Feed.

If the robe is more than 50% open, then yes.

You spend money on good players. It honestly is that simple.

Sorry. Elite. You spend money on elite players.

What if Toronto pays Mitch Marner more than 9 millions dollars and they make the playoffs.

What if Colorado pays Mikko Rantannen more than 9 million dollars and they DON'T make the playoffs?

What if Tampa Bay pays Braydon Point more than 9 million dollars and someone hits him with their car and breaks his legs?

Do you attribute all these situations to, "well, ya shouldn't have paid him so much, unless they go to the playoffs, cause now they're justified"

Well, then I think you have to investigate a link to Dubas...that would be the only way they are winning the Conference and thereby avoiding another 1st round exit at the hands of the Bruins.

Assists, not knowledge, wisdom, kindness, honor or acceptance, define the man.

If you are not assists, you are nothing but a husk. An approximately $9,000,000 husk.

Here's a pretty nice writeup touching on how Okposo still has use, and is not necessarily a complete detriment to the team, on the ice.

If you can get past his salary and just look at what he can actually provide on the ice, he's still useful. Even if he's not scoring much anymore.

*WARNING*

Jeff Skinner is shown in these graphs as putting up team-leading numbers in 5v5 situations, both GF and GA.

Do NOT read if easily triggered by elite players.

It was bad, no question. To argue that we had the best record in the NHL in spite of the coach, then the worst record in the NHL because of the coach, doesn't hold up to me. I blame the roster slightly more than the coaching. Doesn't bother me that some feel the opposite. Taking it to the extreme that it was a playoff caliber team, with horrendous coaching is too far to me.
- Lunaion

I strongly believe it reflected one of the worst coaching performances in Buffalo sports history. The streak showed potential, the grooming and leading of that potential was dismal. Coaches are responsible for 1) the character of his rooster 2) the development of winning strategy in the face of other teams effort. 3) the best possible blend of the talents on his rooster. Housley seemed lost on all 3. Admittedly my admiration for Kreuger is a gut reaction at this point, but my gut was right about Housley.

I'd imagine there's a clause for get out of contract if hit by a car. If not, the team is dumb and there should be.

You managed to help me remember the point I wanted to make but totally forgot about.

People like to rip on Krueger being a 'soccer coach'. Most of us here know that he oversaw a soccer franchise and brought it back to well above respectability. Here's a man who doesn't know poop about professional soccer before he joined Southampton. But he was smart enough to know that very fact. He was smart enough to hire the right people to make things better for the org. And in five years, he did. He went beyond expectations, taking a dumpster team to one of the better teams.

I think he carries those same qualities here. He hires the right guys to be assistants. He employs the right systems and ideas for the right players to almost force them to succeed.

Takes a smart man to know what he's not good at, and make sure that his faults are covered by people who know exactly how to fill in. This is who I see Krueger to be. I really hope he exceeds mine and our expectations.
