Green seems optimistic about his line options:
Miller Petey BB
Ferland Bo Pearson
Sven Gaudette JV
Lievo Beagle Sutter
Goldy, Motte - Rousell LTIR - NuckUp
You can probably pencil in Gaudette for Utica. He needs a full season there IMO.
Sutter at 3LC and the Beags at 4LC. How long is Rousell out for?

Probably December for Rousell. Sutter was saying he would play right wing. This was in recognition of Gaudette's development. While Gaudette could easily spend top minutes in AHL. The Canucks need more scoring. Getting that from your 3rd line in today's NHL is key to edging out wins.

4th line minutes on the wing isn't going to work for Sutter. Top minutes in the AHL is exactly what Gaudette needs. When injuries hit Gaudette can come up and fill a spot. Should only be a month or two before Sutter and Sven are out for the year lol

In 29th? Our Vancouver Canucks.
The results align with most of the dialogue that surrounds Jim Benning — good at drafting, not-so-good at everything else. The fanbase ranks the Canucks 31st at salary-cap management and 30th in free agency.
lol. I’m not one of those anti-millennials. It’s just the industry is booming and the GC’s are using more and more apprentices with not enough supervision.
Thank god we are seeing more and more gals in trades. It’s helped fill the void. - bloatedmosquito
My biggest problem right now is finding experienced parts people and heavy equipment technicians and upper management keeps nixing me taking on less experienced people and apprentices. Anybody who is good has a job.

There are teams in much worse cap trouble than the ‘Nucks, so I suppose this is a reflection of the (lack of) fan confidence in the management teams ability to sort it out. The TML, as one example, are in much worse position even before they sign Marner...not dumping on them, but this poll suggests Dubas has inspired more confidence than Benning.

This is the "yeah well compared to X, Y is much less worse" scenario. Those of us who don't trust Benning to navigate this franchise through the rocky waters ahead are not praising other stupid GM's. They are stupid too. Being stupider doesn't lessen Jim's stupidness in the least.
So no, it's not perception vs reality, it's reality vs reality.

Stupid is as stupid does. So stupid vs stupid. I perceive them both to be stupid.
Lack of confidence should go without saying. I am confident that he will draft good young players I am not confident that he knows how to do much else. He is an active GM. Quite possibly the most in the NHL. To me that reeks of desperation.

Agreed. I think when the time is right John Weisbrod makes his move.

I disagree . I think there is a lot of perception . You get a bunch of (frank)en idiots that have not spent one day employed in the NHL that think they have all the answers of how to run a NHL franchise.
Benning was handed a huge pile if sh1t and told to fix it. When he got the team it was plummeting to the dregs of hockey world. Of course it was going to take at least 3 years to take a team that was already free falling to make any significant moves to stop the bleeding.
The team for the last two years has moved up 6 spots and I am pretty sure they will improve again this year. They will be cap compliant and again next year and the year after. I am even willing to say they will be cap compliant for the next two decades unless the rules change.
The team in my opinion for the first time in almost seven years will have a pretty standard NHL roster.
The roster is pretty well set for the next 2 -3 years and some prospects in the wait.
Do I trust the Canucks management over the Vancouver media or the armchair GMs ? Abso (frank)en lutely.

"This is a team we will be able to turn around in a hurry"
Every team will be cap compliant, it isn't an option.
Being better isn't the same as being good. Trust needs to be earned, and so far Jim hasn't done anything to inspire confidence, for me. You trust him, that's great, I'll wait and see.

If it isn't an option then why is there so much ink given to a subject that can only have one result.
Me too. Watch the team hopefully build some chemistry. Sneak in the playoffs and get brought back to reality. Tampa gets the pick next summer. - VanHockeyGuy
I don't know ? They will get it this year or next I don't really care which one.

It’s about how each team manages to get there. Will Dubas need to give up mor draft picks to get Marner signed and fit under the cap? Will Gorton have to give up a prospect to move one of his over priced D? Will Benning need to pay a heavy price to move Eriksson or Beagle or whoever? This is the question
