I think their player development leaves a lot to be desired.

FA is only big picture, he doesn’t do any of the following:

run day to day hockey operations
deal with other GM’s
deal with player agents
run the scouting department at the pro and amateur levels
run player development programs

It’s a huge stretch to place total blame on him. But he certainly deserves a big chunk of it.

The Caps just recently won a cup with an owner who’s very similar to FA in mindset. Doesn’t like rebuilding. But their management, scouting and development is pretty damn solid so they built a cup winner.

I’m not a fan of firing a GM or Coach unless a successor is in the plan. Associate coaches are a dime a dozen & where i would initiate the hunt.

I’ll wager team pom pom will enjoy this season with their optimism being well founded.

Team miserable will always find something to complain about. They’ll mix in some good to make themselves feel better.
