Of course we do.. Remember Kovy? We sold them a bag of pucks. If these players (laine more likely) doesnt want to resign, they need to get whatever they can. 2 1sts, prospect and roster player. Tor would love Vats.

Edit: which could also explain the carrick signing. Someone is getting traded.

Kovy was going to be a UFA and everybody knew he wasn't going to resign in Atlanta. I get the comparison though, but I don't think Winnipeg needs to sell so low on a team controlled player.

I thought about that and both teams are playoff/cup contending teams. I’m not sure they’d want a top player on sidelines holding out when they can get good assets for them and help win. At least to me that makes sense but who knows how GMs think.

Nobody is getting traded. Somebody is getting hurt. It’s hockey. It happens every year.
You need depth and a bench.

Im calling it, Laine or Marner...

This is the transformational offseason to put us on another trajectory. If you have the assets to get a game breaker, do it.

I go to quite a few games in Winnipeg each year, and let me tell you this, Laine is the single worst hockey player I have ever seen 5v5, and has given me absolutely no hope that he will improve. Unreal shot, but absolutely drags down the production of his linemates. Jets were one of the best teams in the league 5v5, and Laine was their sniper, while racking up a -24 +/-...........
Marner is a massive contrast. Makes everyone around him dangerous, and has some of the best puck protection skills I have seen. If either is an option, Marner is the obvious choice.

Laine would ve be very interesting woukd it have to require hall going the other way ? Im not to open to moving the best defense prospect we have had in years when he better suits the cores of Nico and Jack for a winger either lol ( not saying hes worth more but I would personally like to watch how far he can grow ).

Think the owners were just generating hype.

I could theoretically see deals for guys like Ehlers or Nylander (guys that might need to be snipped to fit current salary structures), but not for the big named RFAs.

I didnt know he was that bad. I guess when all you relied on was your shot, he prob neglected other aspects of the game.
well good to know. lets skip on him.
