For a bottom pairing or up in the press box, he is a nice option.

The lack of offense is OK if he continues to improve defensively. He just seems to think the game a little slow and sometimes gets panicky. But I think when he's feeling comfortable he's a really good 3rd pair guy. The one year deal is great for us.

I think the more I see these one way deals... the more I see a trade coming with d being moved out.

Between Carrick and Mueller resignings I guess we can put any additional roster moves on D off the rumor charts!

When we trade Zacha and Vats for a true 1/2 RW, and sign Gardiner 3 years 7M AAV, it will all make sense.

Hall Nico Palms
Coleman Hughes Tuch
Boq Zajac Simmonds
Bratt Mcleod Anderson

Butch P.K
Gardiner Severson
Smith Carrick

If Ray still feels that he needs to make one more move, I am ok with that trade package, and really think those two plus maybe a mid-round pick is what they are going to have to pay for another legit top six guy. IMO it is still an area of need despite the Simmonds signing and Boqvist hype.

Is there any reasonable package that would pry Laine out of Winnipeg? Would Zacha, Vatanen, a first, and conditional pick get it done? More realistically, someone like Zucker or Tuch could probably be had for Vatanen, a mid-tier prospect like McLeod or Anderson and 3rd rounder.

I don't think Ray feels that he needs to do anything. I think they expect Boqvist to contribute and probably think they get someone like Bastian to fill in if/when we lose a player to injury.

The only way I see Ray Ray making a move is if something good falls into his lap; most likely from a cap crunched team or maybe a lingering free agent cutting him a good deal. Maybe a guy like Boyle if he gets desperate.

Capfriendly has us with ~17 mil in space with just Butcher and Zacha left to lock up. I could see Ray making some depth signings, like Boyle, but there are still a few cap strapped teams out there he may be able to take advantage of to add a wing or another left defenseman.

I predict if Hall isn't signed by camp Shero has a deal in place that'll ship him off. Especially if Hall says no negotiating during the season.

eh. I don't think this summer will decide Hall's future. I think Ray will be doing everything in his power through the season to re-sign Hall. Maybe the trade deadline is more of a sure bet.

You could be right but I think Ray has learned that he gets maximum value on players by moving them before the trade deadline frenzy. He got exceptional value for Boyle and Lovejoy which he traded early and less for Mojo.

If there is one thing I feel good about it is that Ray will deal with whatever happens so we aren't left holding our Richards in our hand; and I'm pretty sure it won't be one of those Ottawa type trades where we go 'what the (frank)?' after it's done. But hopefully it'll be a great start to the season and Hall signs.

I think it's important to post every day that I don't think Hall will resign and that we should trade him for garbage players.

I foster kittens and volunteer at a shelter to acclimate them to being with humans. My wife and I worked with this really cute all white kitten years ago that hated people and was very mischievous. We loved him. He hated us.

Pomegrant is kind of like that kitten. Often angry and intolerant but true to his nature. I respect that and his perspective. My comment was sincere... and I don’t exactly picture him as a kitten.

Just saying.
