better, only because Weber will start the season on October 1st.
the real question is, is that dcore good enough?
I still think Habs need a real top LD who would be their #1 guy for years.

I still think the plan is to wait for Romanov to come over. Chariot is a stop gap at best.

Romanov?? please, what makes you think he'll be that good? may I remind you Timmins compared him to Emelin?
and even if he turns out to be good enough to be #1, that will take 2-3 years minimum. Chiarot is a fringe #4, not a top pairing guy.

He’s a bandaid in the meantime... i’ve made my peace with the fact that the CH are not getting another D man this summer

if they're gonna wait for kids to fill the holes (and be effective top players), they'd be better off trading Weber, Petry and Price. because it will take at least 3 years.
it's one or the other. you either rebuild or you don't.

From what I know he is a top prospect in the Habs organization. That's how you build contenders, with the draft. Just look at Chicago, a team you should know.

This team is in a rebuild and is 2 or 3 years away at best to contend. Romanov fits that bill.

Id bring Markov in just so he could mentor Mete like Gonchar did with Beaulieu

I'm not against it but you need to ice a team and probably a few good vets. See the Oilers and others for failed rebuilds.

Weber doesn't play the same type of game compared to Mete and Markov which is based on mobility and going up with the puck. Having a mentor which plays your type of hockey is the best to learn.

Good luck with Chairot. I hope he does well in Montreal, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him Alzner’d by next season

reminds me of the scene in Major League when they're going over the spring training roster with the owner.

"this guy here is dead!"

"then cross him off the list..."

my point is, if you want to win with Price and Weber, you need to speed up the rebuild process by signing or trading for a few top pieces.
if you don't, might as well trade them.
you can always find vets who won't cost 10M per to mentor the kids.
