A high ranking league executive from the Smythe division recently told me the Leafs were very close to signing the Muskoka 5 on PTOs last September. Babs was on board with it because they were all realgudpros. But Dubas was worried about Nylander being scared to sign. Rather than risking a prolonged holdout Dubas told Nylander that the Muskoka 5 would remain in the Leafs past.

But the same source also told me that Dubas has changed his approach this year. He has told Marner that if he isn't signed by the Leafs by September 1st he will be signing PTOs. So far I've heard such names as Ogie Oglethorpe, Reg Dunlop, the Hansen brothers and Phil McCracken. There's a few others who are interested. Names like Carl Raki, Dean Youngblood and a young Richard Park.

I guess so, he netted 6 goals for the Nottingham Panthers last year, enough to scare most of those greedy RFAs

But those 6 goals were scary good.

Dean Youngblood would be my choice, he carried the Mustangs to a championship all on his own after captain Swayze (cant remember the character's name) went down with a concussion

Try domi, Weber for laine
- Jaybird74

not sure Winnipeg can afford that. Domi is RFA in 2020 and Weber is signed at nearly $8 million until the sun reaches white dwarf status.

This is never happening. If it did happen, the Habs would have to ship out either Kotkaniemi or Domi. I just don't see that happening. Though, a part of me would LOVE to see the Habs sell the farm to land Laine. It would be such a gift to be able to watch Laine stand in Ovechkin's spot with nobody to give him the puck all year lol.

Speaking of big splash, sources confirm that Bergie is headed to the washroom again. Time to apply some serious pressure.

My cousin and I were just talking about PTOs putting pressure on RFA's to sign. He's a Boston fan and was wondering about the Bruins bringing in someone like Dion Phaneuf on a PTO to put the screws to McAvoy and Carlo to sign for cheap. Because my cousin did point out that Ek was talking about lesser RFA's and not guys like Marner.

According to Ek only the Flyers and Habs are allowed to acquire star players. E5

And the Chris Stewart PTO totally has Provorov shaking in his boots. How on earth could they get somebody who could so seamlessly replace him in the line up for so little!!??
